Myst Mobile isn't just the latest way to experience this thirty-year-old classic; it's the best way to experience it. And I say that even as someone who's struggled to "get" Myst!
My own issues aside, Myst is one of the most beloved adventure games of all time, and developer Cyan has given it the care it deserves in this latest mobile port. It's based around last year's Unreal engine remake of the 1993 original. The new engine means two things: full 3D traversal and visuals that are absolutely gorgeous.
If you've never played Myst before, Myst Mobile includes the classic version of the game. But for veterans, there's also a random mode that remixes the puzzles, providing new brain-bending challenges.
Of course, for my part, the original puzzles already hurt my brain enough! I love the weird, universe-hopping story behind Myst, but all the levers and buttons and number puzzles have always baffled me. I'm grateful to have a new, convenient, and beautiful way of giving it another shot, though. Maybe this time I'll finally crack the code.
