The futuristic world of Omega 13 was enough to grab my attention, but considering all this game has to offer: cool customizations, atmospheric music, and of course, badass mech fighting, it's a stylish game that's worth checking out.
The biggest issue for me was figuring out the mech controls. Once I did that, the gameplay was pretty straightforward. Omega 13 utilizes a turn-based combat system over a grid-based map. You can use the pedals to move your mech and attack enemy fighters. The controls made it feel like I was in the cockpit because, with the movement and combat, Omega 13 provides some weightiness to the mechs. Well, at least as much as you can from a smartphone device.
Every aspect of my mech was customizable, from the weapons to the armor, to even the cockpit. This made battling a worthwhile experience and gave me something to work toward.
This game has a narrative structure, but don't expect anything too deep here. Essentially, you're battling other mechs in an arena tournament-style and trying to get the highest rank. That might take quite a while. Omega starts you off at rank 1000, and the goal is to get the number 1 spot.
Omega 13 is a stylish adventure that is fun to play, albeit the combat can feel a bit repetitive at times. The music and atmosphere hook you into the world, and even details like color customization expand on the cool concepts Omega 13 introduces. Check it out!
