Bloody Rune is an anime style game that at first glance looks like a simple connect the same runes type of game but actually if you're not paying attention, it can sneak up on you and make things fairly difficult. Gameplay wise this game doesn't start off with a tutorial, you must read the tutorial yourself before you begin playing the game. This is something I failed to do at first and I was really confused as to how to use the skills I was earning, or how to actually play the game properly.
Once you read the tutorial you will get a better understanding. You must actually try and draw the rune symbols using the same rune icons in order for you to cast the spells. These spells can truly change the tide of the combat, but it can be tricky to cast them if you have no matching runes.l So you must try to clear out runes you don't need, while also trying to clear out the obstructions that will give you a hard time. If you can manage to pull off some rune spells you can really give your opponent a hard time. As you progress up the ladder, taking out all your opponents, you will also come across a shop, these shops have more spell runes you can learn, and you should buy some new rune spells if you can afford them.
While I did die a few times, I did manage to complete the game in no time at all. The game is pretty short, and I was expecting more to it after taking down the first boss. But I was surprised to find out that, that was the end of the game, as the credits began to roll. I mean the game is a pretty cheap premium game, so I suppose thats all I can expect, but I have played plenty of other games for cheaper on mobile that had a lot more content than this one did. So it was a bit surprising. Visually the game looks alright.
The pixel art anime girls you face off against are cute looking and it does look pretty decent, but this is a premium game, so I would have liked to have seen something more that sets it apart from the free versions. Of course there is no ads, so I suppose you are just paying for ad removal. Overall I'd say that Bloody Rune is an okay game, that will make you super confused if you skip reading the tutorial and try to wing it.
I highly suggest reading the tutorial on the main menu screen. It will make things a lot more understandable. I won't play this again since I completed it already. Just a shame how short it was, considering it was a premium purchase. For $2.49USD on the play store, I think you could find some better games with a lot more content to be honest.
