Endling: Extinction is Forever is such a tension heavy game that ive come across so far in 2023. Lets recap exactly what is ‘Endling Extinction is Forever’ is an indie survival-adventure game developed by Spanish studio Herobeat Studios and published by German HandyGames.

When i was going into this game i didn't know exactly what i was getting myself into but i knew it had to be a good story and man is it a tension heavy story as the player sees themselves in the eyes of an Fox. Not Just any fox though its a pregnant fox that is trying to survive a forest fire. Right from the start of this game, players can already imagine what type of game we got ourselves into. Towards the end of the prologue you find out the fox is pregnant and gives birth to 4 pups and one of them getas stolen by a human and this scene is what sets you up for the 4 hours worth of game time youll go through.

This playthrough i had is on my iPhone XR and the game runs very smooth with no hiccups whatsoever. The game does have a day and night cycle but most of your play time will be at night which is for the best since the humans will be sleep and you can roam and search for food and as well as find hints of your pups scent. Youll see at the bottom of your screen how much time you have left before day break. Your fox can also sneak up on ‘food’ which consist of fruit and fish and bunnies etc. After a day or so players can finally have the cubs come with you which adds a challenge even it self other than just feeding them you also have to make sure they don't get taken away by humans if you stay out too late.

At any moment you or your pups can die and youll learn the hard way ive had some close encounters like fighting off humans or even accidentally running into a bear trap. The game does make some heavy moments regarding the cycle of survival for not only just humans but as well as the fox family. With some of the humans you come across youll notice they are mainly wanting to kill you for food or sell you to the highest bidder and your job as a fox is to prevent this from happening to your 4 pup.

Endling Extinction is forever definitely tries to tell us a message through the storytelling. This is a very gloomy and dreaded world, your only job to bring happiness to your little family is to find your pup and i love that you can teach your other pups during the journey particular skills on how to survive and you can even nurture them to calm them down if they get a bit upset or scared. The world and on how it is played is very fascinating as its a 3D side scroller and with a large map to boot. The way how you can interact by moving to locations really adds something special to the game.
