PLAY IT OR SKIP IT?
Play it if you love music or Final Fantasy, and especially if you love both! If music makes the people come together, it’s nowhere more apparent than in Theatrhythm Final Bar Line. After all, where else could you see a whole squad of Final Fantasy heroes like Squall, Cloud, Rikku, and Vivi come together in song?! This title takes the best music across the entire history of Square Enix’s epic RPG series and packages it together in an incredibly nostalgic and fun way. Combined with cool extras like multiplayer and collectibles, I found myself locked to the screen saying, “Just one more song.”

TIME PLAYED
I clocked in around seven hours on Theatrhythm Final Bar Line on the PlayStation 4. So far, I’ve unlocked tracks from Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy II, And Final Fantasy XI. With multiple modes and difficulties in replaying songs, I’ve got hours of gameplay left.
WHAT'S AWESOME
• The song collection. Theatrhythm Final Bar Line offers hundreds of songs across the Final Fantasy series. I don’t need an excuse to listen to these masterpieces—I have entire game soundtracks saved on my phone. However, having a context for listening to my favorite tunes while building my characters and arranging my parties was nice.

• The gameplay. The gameplay here goes beyond the average rhythm game. There are plenty of collectibles, like summons, abilities, cards, and keys, which I needed to unlock new music. Different game modes allowed me to play independently, against a buddy, or teamed up in co-op. Additionally, arranging my party based on special abilities and character type offered a cool way to add in some RPG elements, which gave me an edge on the more difficult songs.
• Replay value. Each song comes equipped with varying difficulty levels, so to truly master a song, I needed to play it on all levels. Additionally, customizing and upgrading characters gave added incentive to replay past songs with a new team

WHAT SUCKS
• No narrative. I would have loved it if there were just a smidgen of a story tying everything together, but alas...I was left wanting!

One thing we can all agree on, even without having played any Final Fantasy and just watched small gameplay trailers, is that all of its soundtracks are memorable. THEATRHYTHM FINAL BAR LINE is a title that essentially celebrates music, as a love letter to all the defining moments of Final Fantasy titles. The main idea of this title, being a rhythm game, will be for the player to press the buttons correctly as they appear on the monitor in the form of musical notes. Not only pressing buttons, but also keeping the joystick pressed towards a specific direction shown by green lines, and which allows the player to obtain a higher score. It's actually a pretty simple premise at first. As the difficulty of the levels increases, their complexity increases. Not only is it faster, but also the level of combinations required is more complex, such as needing to press a direction at the end of a combo string or lines. This combined with pressing different buttons, all at the same time, even reminds me a little of the movie " Everything Everywhere All at Once ".

THEATRHYTHM FINAL BAR LINE, the Rhythm that captivated tons
THEATRHYTHM FINAL BAR LINE is based on the nostalgia surrounding the Final Fantasy universe, on the memories, you had the first time you set foot in any title of this adventure. THEATRHYTHM FINAL BAR LINE presents a very complete difficulty system and a very demarcated learning curve. Simple at first but quite addictive in the sense of overcoming the previously achieved score, or simply because you want to collect all the collectibles.

A journey with songs, an adventure about love and courage. - Gameplay Unlike previous music games I've played, this game requires a high level of reaction and patience. The screen will be divided into four areas, follow the rhythm of the corresponding area click. If you make a mistake, the level will fail. Also, there are variable speed notes in the game, so you need to keep up with the rhythm when accelerating or decelerating. The game contains 100 stages and 20 main tracks, each stage contains five small levels, the same song from easy to difficult, the last level is the longest and most challenging.
