With its unique characters, addicting gameplay, and relaxing music, This story-based puzzler has a lot going for it. Linea: an innerlight game was easy to grasp, and I could quickly get into it as I waited for the bus to class. Linea combines narrative gameplay with puzzle-solving elements. Each puzzle I solved unlocked bits of dialogue that ultimately led to a completed story. Each story had different characters with different narrative plots, so exploring new short stories was cool as I helped each character reach their goal through the gameplay.
The gameplay also seduced me with its initial simplicity. In Linea, I had to draw a line of light to connect all the puzzle pieces. Sounds simple enough, but the puzzles became more complex as I progressed, and getting a perfect score in each stage became increasingly challenging.
There was also some incentive to get a high score, as a cool collectible system rewarded me for connecting all lines. And this is the trap! Each stage probably took only a few minutes to complete. But as the levels became more complex, I was determined to get the highest score until ultimately, I found myself at ten minutes on a single level!
Not that I'm complaining about that. Linea really did put me in a chill mood. Especially when playing with headphones, I could feel the vibes of the chill music. The lighting effects on the graphics made me want to turn off all the lights and just zone out to some Linea.
If you're looking for something that's easygoing but offers a moderate challenge and decent story Linea is certainly for you.
