Asphalt 10 is one of those games that we are eagerly awaiting for a possible announcement of its development. However, we know that it won't be so easy, as the developer of the Asphalt franchise has been facing major financial problems in recent years.
Gameloft was once regarded as a revolutionary company in the mobile gaming industry, but with the rise of the Chinese market in mobile gaming, much of Gameloft's revenue has decreased as the Chinese market has grown in relation to creating games for mobile devices. This has caused Gameloft to increasingly resort to an abusive system of micro-transactions in its games.
As Chinese companies introduced several successful games, which were once the responsibility of Gameloft, the company found itself in great trouble and without a major release, leading to the failure of Asphalt Xtreme, which was eventually bought by Netflix after Gameloft announced that the game's servers would be shut down.
Without a major release for years and without a significant innovation to compete with Chinese companies, which now dominate the mobile market, Gameloft, like its Asphalt franchise, has fallen into obscurity.
Without a major release and without any title to generate significant revenue, it is likely that Asphalt 10 will remain just an idea on paper, especially with games like Racing Master, which is about to be released, a game that is directly inspired by the Asphalt franchise and is being developed by a Chinese company.
However, D-S believes that this is not the end of the Asphalt franchise, even though Asphalt 9 has recently been updated, with the latest update released on February 1, 2023. With Gameloft not making any major announcements and revenue continuing to decrease due to the presence of Chinese companies, Asphalt 10 could be the last game of the franchise unless it manages to stand out among other similar games that will be released in the coming years.
As D-S is uncertain about whether there will be an announcement of Asphalt 10 to the delight of fans, we can only hope that the company behind the game, Gameloft, will be able to revive this franchise that has been fading away and being forgotten by a large part of the mobile gaming audience year after year.
