What it’s like jumping into Lightfall as a first-time Destiny 2 player

I can’t stop playing Destiny 2: Lightfall and it’s become a problem. The game is so freakin’ good and I’ve only touched the surface. The latest expansion recently came out on February 28, 2023, and I’ve already completed the campaign. Heck, I had to pull myself away from the game just to write this post so if that’s not saying I’m addicted then I don’t know what is.
For someone that’s never played the game before, jumping into Destiny 2 last week was a pleasant surprise. I’ve always known about the game and have seen videos here and there, but I’ve never really felt tempted to play it. Well, not until I saw the latest trailer for Lightfall. After seeing it, I was immediately convinced to give it a try, and oh golly was it a fantastic experience. I mean, who can resist explosions, spaceships, more explosions, and scary-looking aliens in a game? I know I can’t, that's for sure.
After seeing the trailer, I immediately downloaded the game. At this point, all I knew about Destiny 2 was that there were aliens, guns, and missions I could complete. I had no idea what I was jumping into and although that does sound a little daunting or worrying, it was pretty exciting to do something new.
As soon as it was ready, I hopped right into it and started my adventure by creating my character and giving it a fancy name. From here, I started doing all sorts of quests and challenges.
At the start, it was a little hard to follow the quests since there was so much information to consume. I had to keep up by searching for guides online when I got stuck, which happened a lot at the beginning. But after I played for a couple of hours, I started getting used to the game, and figuring out what to do and where to go became second nature.
I began experimenting with various weapons and abilities and started new quests and campaigns. I learned more about stats, some of the bosses I could defeat, and what I needed to do to get stronger. If there’s one thing Destiny 2 does exceptionally well, it’s combat. There’s really nothing like the satisfaction of using a super ability to drop down on a group of enemies and literally disintegrate all of them in a second. Nothing I tell you.
Over time, I got a little bored with missions, so I stopped following campaigns and started doing other things. I really enjoyed the freedom I had with how I wanted to play. I could fight other players in a player-versus-player mode or go on a mission to hunt down some world-ending boss, only to die a quarter of the way in. In the end, there was always something to do and even when I got tired of doing stuff, Destiny 2 had its ways of bringing me exactly what I needed to keep on playing.
Besides the impressive visuals, rich storyline, great PC performance, almost endless amount of content, and more than a handful of areas to explore, Destiny 2 is a freakin’ brilliant game in and of itself, and it goes beyond this. It’s an experience to die for—one that I was lucky to come across. I hope more people can try out Destiny 2 because I know I don't plan to stop playing it any time soon.
I have been playing since D1 beta it's been a long journey and I can't wait to see what bungie has in-store for us after this saga ends.

Author likedI wish I could've played much earlier. Seeing how near the game is to reaching its peak, it's a little sad to be honest.
