If you were old enough to be around at the time you would know. Nintendo was experimenting with horror at the time using the Wii controllers, and let me tell you, it was exceptionally creepy, if not occasionally a little silly.

PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? Play it if you love old-school survival horror games, but be ready for a lot of PlayStation 2-era jankiness. That’s partially because Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse isn’t that far removed from that era. It was originally released on the Wii back in 2008 but never made it to Western regions until now. The wait will have been worth it for hardcore horror fanatics like myself, but it doesn’t come without some outdated design frustrations.

In this long-running series, you will be playing through the eyes of a very diverse array of protagonists all with their own connections to Rogetsu Island. Ruka Minazuki, one of the numerous individuals you will play as and encounter, is the sole subject of the narrative. Although she has connections to the other protagonists you play, her recollections of them as they search for her are all but vague blurs as a result of her kidnapping ten years earlier.
