Summoners War: Chronicles is a RPG with MMO elements and a lot of Adventures in it. Explore the world around you together with your Summons, grow stronger, and unveil the secrets and mysteries that are hidden from you.
Gameplay
Gameplay in Summoners War: Chronicles is pretty fluid and engaging. You start by selecting one of 3 classes and move on to some appearance change options (no worries, you can change them later).
From there your story begins. You travel with 3 of your summons, that can be acquired through gacha mechanics. You can get 1-5 star rarity summons belonging to 1 out of 5 attributes. They are divided in several classes like tanks, healers, damage dealers and so on.
Your characters mana is being used both by you and your summons, so its essential to keep mana pool as big as possible and have good mana regen.
Most of the time you explore the areas and move around doing quests, which mostly involves talking or taking out specified amount of enemies.
Combat in Summoners War: Chronicles is unexpectedly fluid. You can roll to the side evading enemy aoe attacks and damage zones, or attack the enemy with your spells. Your summons have spells of their own too, so depending on the team you have you will have different damage output, weaknesses and strengths.
Enemies come in many shapes and forms, starting with slimes and wolves, going all the way through goblins and to the demons. Most enemies movesets are pretty simple, but some of them have special attacks, that can be avoided, interaction with other enemy mobs and such.
Early on it doesnt matter if enemy hits you or not, the damage they do is insignificant and its very hard to die.
For the controls, you have a joystick on the left and a lot A LOT of buttons on the right. Normal attack, 3 skills and an ultimate are the main things, then you have your summoned monsters and 2 skills per each and a lot of behaviour controls. Overall if you take a look at the interface without tutorial it might be pretty frightening.
But in reality controls are pretty smooth and easy to get, very responsive. You can use a controller in order to better control your character.
You have 3 main progression areas in Summoners War: Chronicles.
First one is Summoner hero skills and gear. Its not so deep and complicated, but nice that its there.
Second one is Monster Summons gacha, where you try to get the best monsters, level them up, evolve and awaken them
And finally the third one is Adventurer level, which is basically your account level. It raises together with your character, and is important for progression in the game.
Overall there are a lot of things to do and to explore in Summoners War: Chronicles.
Gameplay Score: 7/10
Difficulty
Summoners War: Chronicles difficulty cannot be changed, overall I consider the game pretty easy, most encounters, at least early game, do not require any skill and can be done blindfolded. But it doesnt mean that group content in mid and endgame will be just as easy. Most likely difficulty will escalate as you progress the game and become more challenging.
Difficulty Score: 3/10
Graphics
By default when I launched the game graphics was set to 540p, so it looked horrible. As long as I adjusted the resolution and changed the settings to ultra its appearance changed. Now it looks nice, with pretty cartoonish and cute 3d graphics, which suits the game pretty well.
Effects are nice too and based on the settings you can make them better or worse. Although you might need a powerful phone in order to play it on the best settings.
I would like to point out the cutscenes with anime action in them, they add a nice touch to overall game feel and I like them a lot.
Graphics Score: 9/10
Sounds and Music
Background music in Summoners War: Chronicles is good. It sounds a bit heroic, there are a lot of tracks there, so it doesnt feel repetitive. It also changes based on the area, so there is nothing to complain about.
Sounds are nice to the ear, whenever you cast spells or your monsters fight enemies you feel that everything is how its supposed to be
Some dialogues are voiceovered, but most just have introductory phrases. Its completely fine, since reading is always faster than listening and a lot of players skip them anyway.
Sounds and Music Score: 8/10
F2P or P2W
Summoners War: Chronicles is a free game, although there are a lot of ingame purchases. You have classical store with premium currency, special summons, cash only costumes that give stats, battle passes, special deals etc. Overall competing with p2w players will be impossible, but for the single player experience you can stay f2p easily.
Although you might have hard time getting that specific hero you wanted or growing at some point. But its a mobile hero collector game, we are all used to this by now.
F2P Score: Game is 6/10 F2P.
Overall scores and Conclusion
Gameplay 7/10

Graphics 9/10
Sounds and BGM 8/10
F2P 6/10
Summoners War: Chronicles is a really fun game that combines RPG, MMORPG and Adventure genres in it. It have nice gameplay with a lot of things to do, a lot of graphics setting to tune the game to your needs and overall pretty fun. The only question is how the long-term progression is and if the game gets more p2w as you grow stronger.
