Have you ever settled in to watch an old-school film—horror, comedy, or maybe simply something strange—only to be turned off by the bad gags and dialogue because the cast as a whole lacked acting talent? Well...
Crime Boss: Rockay City is a first-person shooter action and strategy game revolving around bank heists, turf wars and organized crime that includes a lot of awful one-liners that only someone out-of-date with society would find funny.
There are a few game modes to play through, but the main campaign follows the story of Travis Baker, a cowboy hat-wearing Michael Madsen imitation.
His entire team consists of Hollywood celebrities and even those less-than-famous 1990s faces that we have grown to love or really despise as a result of their ascent to popularity, like the Vanilla Ice character known as "Helios."
There is absolutely nothing special about this game, nor it's elements. If you've played Payday 2, or literally any other game like Hitman 2 you have already played a much better version than this Epic Games exclusive.
Story
TapTap
All over the place
You may anticipate that Chuck Norris would be more prominent in the narrative if the game featured and emphasized him as the major enemy.
Short version: He only really does one thing, which is appear in the game's opening sequence. He doesn't get in the way of your plans, doesn't appear in many or any of the crew cutscenes, and you don't even have to battle him, unless this is something that appears later on down the line, but come on.
The whole story revolves around the terrible one liners, horrendous voice acting from the majority of the crew which often sound like AI Generated voices, because they do not fit the tone, nor do they fit the characters.
If the characters have anything to discuss, it is how Helios must be overthrown and how they must advance in the criminal underworld in order to rule the city.
If not this, it's how women look when they wear skimpy clothing that heavily
accentuate their bodies which I mentioned in my first impressions review. It's distracting and does nothing but objectify woman more than anything else.
Problems
This has to be a joke
A true plot cannot be built, and there is no actual gameplay to support it. The AI is horrible; they can't even follow you or find you in the right way. The NPCs all have the same appearance, and the game is a complete ripoff of Payday 2.
There is no way that this game can be taken seriously.
Turf Wars
The attacks are incredibly simple, allowing you to practically solo the task because the enemies won't leave their compound, in contrast to the defense missions, which actively seek you out from every conceivable angle even if you do manage to acquire a large enough army to defend them 50 / 20. They still have the upper hand, because suddenly your AI is worse then the enemies.
You have to kill the enemies leader after taking out their entire squad, to win. But getting to this point through defense is next to impossible, so far.
Heists
For the aforementioned reasons, robbing a bank or a rival gang is a complete joke. You're supposed to be quiet, yet practically everything you do produces noise, or your AI squad does something idiotic, like screaming as soon as you enter a building, not notifying the guards but still sounding the alarm anyways.
You can literally jut walk in, shoot all the guards or rivals, take all the money and walk out, with absolutely no timer or anything forcing you to bunker down and wait for extraction. This makes it a complete joke in comparison to Payday.
Severely lacks depth
You'd think there would be more to do in a game that emphasizes strategy and various methods to get money to establish an empire than just make money, take turf, make money, take turf, while again having to listen to the terrible dialogue and jokes being told every so often. But no, that is all you do.
The cutscenes are terrible, the story is terrible, the game feels like something you would have seen back on the PS2, rather than a high end PC in 2023.
AI
It's possible to see enemies standing on top of one another or standing in a corner, pointing their weapons at you but holding off on fire until you are closer to them.
They screwed up because this is so unpolished for such a effort at a rip-off of other games in the same series.
I'd go so far as to say the only interesting aspect of the game I noticed was the lockpicking feature, which felt like a slightly altered version of Skyrim.
Conclusion
TapTap
Not worth your time or money
I am actually at a lose for words, I haven't played a game as bad as this if you can even call it a game, in a very long time. It lacks any form of structure, story, firm gameplay or challenge. Throwing so many things together that just shouldn't be together in the first place.
This isn't a Strategy game.
This isn't a Roguelike game.
This is a product with dated One-Liners, horrible cast of characters, gameplay that will leave you scratching your head as to how on earth it pasted testing.
The missions all take place in the exact same locations, each and every time, just in a different sectioned off part, all you have to do is walk around for a bit to notice it. Please do not waste your money on this game, check out Payday 2.
This concludes my review of this game, while my opinions may be met with criticism, that's what makes gamers unique, you don't have to like the same things that others do, nor do you have to agree with them.

PAYDAY : A Game-Changer or a Total Flop? Honest Review
Shooting Game with Robbery/heist ->shooting game with a twist of robbery could be an exciting and unique concept that combines the thrill of intense gunfights with the adrenaline rush of executing heists. Here are some thoughts on what elements could make such a game engaging and enjoyable: •Dynamic and immersive gameplay: The game should offer a variety of missions and scenarios, allowing players to plan and execute different types of robberies, such as bank heists, jewelry store break-ins, or even high-stakes casino thefts. The gameplay should be immersive, offering a mix of stealth, strategic planning, and intense action sequences.

I have to say, for a mobile game, this replicates payday 2 quite nicely. The graphics ain't too bad,  the mission notoriety is an interesting system, it has multiple weapons and attachments, although this game has its issues, first of all, microtransactions although it isnt too intrusive, the safe system being the main way to unlock weapons, vests, etc, and the sheer grind of the game, the game being dead, the bots being borderline braindead, having to play the same mission over and over again until you can move on to the next city and do the same thing again and from what I've heard, the game has optimization issues. Even with its issues, payday crime wars is a must if you wanna play payday on the go.
