20 minute play time reviewers getting old

20 minute play time reviewers getting old

Way too much negativity for this game and to be frank I know what's going on. YouTubers do their 15 minute gameplay review, say there's only 1 thing to do, and everyone just buys it. Let me provide a counter to a few 1 star reviews I have seen.
There is only 1 gameplay loop.
What? If you are progressing the first chapter of the story this is true. Very shortly into the game you unlock expeditions and the monster cup which is more than games like Disney mirrorverse have. Yet mirrorverse is universally praised for the gameplay. Not to mention the character building, min maxing, breeding sequences, collectathon etc is all available very early.
There's no multi-player!
Barely any mobile games have real multi-player. If you mean PVP then it is underway. You can compete against other players in the monster cup. Yes I agree there should be legit multi-player like genshin impact has. I think it's feasible that within the first year updates like these are being strongly considered. Don't forget when summoners war released there was nothing to do but story. Live multi-player is a very rare thing on the play store but if you're considering things like gacha arena as multi-player, I hate to break it to you that's still single player.
I dont have time, i play too many other games.
So if there is not competitive multi-player yet, and there are no real login requirements then how does this make sense? It's not like if you don't play for a while that you lose all your progress. Phones these days generally have plenty of space so this excuse doesn't really work. If you don't like the game, that's cool I get that.
So with that out of the way I'll just get into the meat of the review.
First things first... this game is nothing like monster hunter. Monster Hunter was 100% about micro managing inventory space and this game has no inventory. MH progress is based on boss loot. MH is also very slow, this game is pretty fast paced especially when you start considering flick skills for movement. Your character progression in this game is based on levels and farming gear through expedition missions, alchemy, and treasure. You can't even tame a single thing in monster hunter so really this is the weakest comparison. I would say it's more aptly in tune with Monster RANCHER.
More aligned with cross breeding your monsters and min maxing both monster and character.
This is NOT a gacha game. Why do people think it is?!? Gacha is based on gachapon gambling systems. There is literally 0 lootbox or gacha element in the game.
As you continually progress through the story you become more aware of nuances in the character and monster building. You will find yourself casually enjoying the game for hours. You can progress story for a while, then maybe farm expeditions. Spend some time breeding and doing alchemy. Try and configure your teams etc etc etc all for the perfect gameplay loop.  I can literally play this game for hours on end every single day and never get bored.
I HIGHLY reccomend a CONTROLLER. This game has some of the best controller support on the entire play store. I can't fathom how many people are doing themselves a disservice by writing the game off as a one trick before even experiencing a fraction of the game. I'm just one person but in terms of my overall enjoyment (for a picky mobile gamer) I'd say this is tied for a few other games for the #1 best game available on Android.

--------------- NOTE: This note of mine ended up being waaaaay longer than I expected. --------------- I agree with.... I'd say 98% of what you said. Harugisa already pointed out one thing, which is the part where you talked about Monster Hunter. When players compare this game with MH, they're not talking about games like Monster Hunter World, they're talking about Monster Hunter Stories. MHS1 is, afaik, only playable on mobile, and MHS2 is available on.... Switch, iirc? It's been years since I last played those two games, so I apologize if I made a mistake. Anyway! While they(Volzerk and MHS) do have some things in common, they're still completely different games. The second thing that no one has pointed out yet is the part where you said that this game has 0 gacha elements. That is true and not true at the same time. Lemme explain myself. -Why do I say it's true? Because this game has indeed no gacha currency or character/weapon banners like in most mobile games. -Why do I say it's NOT true? While this game doesn't have your "usual" gacha elements(the stuff I mentioned in the previous paragraph), there are still some kind of "free" gacha elements, I guess you could call it. Idk how long you've been playing this game, CVMG, but as soon as you unlock hard mode(after you've cleared CH6 iirc), or not long after, you'll have to start grinding like a madman to breed a REALLY good 5th generation Mou-mon. I'll spare you the long version, so here's the short version instead(It's still long though). To get a good gen5 'mon you'll need: -AT THE BARE MINIMUM, 16 gen1 Mou-mons. -All 'mons should be of the purple rarity(the purple 4↑ badge thingy). -At least 12 of the 16 'mons should have a S passive ability slot. Monster rarity and slots are entirely random, so you'll already have to grind like crazy and be insanely lucky to get the right rarity and at least 1 S slot on your 'mons. After that, you'll have to transfer the passive abilities from your human characters to your monsters. Once again, this is entirely up to luck. You'll have 1 chance out of 3 to get what you want. If you don't get the right rarity, passive slot or passive ability on your gen1 'mons, you'll have to keep searching and catching new 'mons until you get what you want. If you're extremely unlucky like me and many other players, you could end up having to spend several HUNDREDS OF HOURS on this before you get the gen 5 mon you want. Just to give you an idea, I've been grinding for a bit more than 300hrs and I still don't have the gen5 'mon that I want. So there you have it. The "gacha elements" that people are talking about are the insane grind and RNG.

I have beaten every mission of every stage in the game and bred nearly every monster - gacha is money. the "gacha" you're talking about is just RNG. That's like saying hunting for certain natures or iv's on pokemon is gacha....

this review is based, also btw there is a game known as monster hunter stories. only difference is mhs is turn based though and you create the character. but anyway I'm happy to see others enjoying this game too.

Boring, repetitive, login issues, Substandard Graphics.
Game is like any other Mmorpg on the Market, nothing that I saw stood out to be unique or was different about it, played the game for the day, quests were baseline boring & repetitive, tasks that are given were, go kill this number of beasts/monsters etc, in a repetitive fashion, & when you keep settings in game like auto travel, auto kill, etc available, the game itself becomes boring, & yes you may manually play, but is that worth it? Personally tried both ways, and still found it the same.. Graphics are not that great even at the highest settings, pretty substandard for a mobile game in 2024, that too when you advertise it to be better, made with Unreal engine 5, by far it looks like a game from 2019 at best. Leaving that aside, the worst part is waiting in Queue of several thousands of players just to login, takes 10-20 mins just waiting in game menu & wouldn't want to forget mentioning the 3rd party login Authenticator. I mean come on, who has that much of free time at hand just so we can login to a mobile game that isn't even good. Do you guys think this is some huge game franchise which has a committed fan base? many would not prefer to wait for a borderline bad mobile game like that. 1 star for false advertising about the game & making it worse even with UE 5. Uninstalled.

My thoughts about the game
At first few hours of the game it'll look good and promising but later on it died out fast. I'll just divide based on my opinion : Pros : Good graphics. Interesting pvp mechanics. Bot mode, so you don't have to open the app constantly. It had lore Cons : Pay to win mechanic since pvp items are locked behind paywall Absurd enhancement mechanic since every enhancement needs a thingy that you can farm for thousand of hours to do single attempt of enhancement

Honest opinion: this game is VERY limited because of mobile!Im sorry!
I participated all day in the ongoing test and, unfortunately, I have to say that the game is very bad. It is clearly limited by being mobile. There's a strong inspiration from WoW and that's really cool... but the rest stinks of mobile. It's a shame, I had hoped that the game would be at least fun, but it's another game produced in a hurry to try to suck up as much money as quickly as possible until the player base dwindles and becomes insignificant! I hope everyone has the opportunity to try it, but if you expect something different from a common mobile game, forget it! I am SO sad to be writing this. What a disappointment.
