Super Snail is a weird and extremely amusing idle game with a strange and funny storyline. It’s a rewarding and enjoyable experience filled with twists and turns that have kept me entertained for the past two hours. It’s one of those addictive casual games where you grind resources, explore a story, and have fun all at the same time.
Super Snail is exactly how it sounds—it’s about a superhero snail that’s trying to save the world from impending doom. To be more precise, it’s about a snail that goes back in time to kill eight demon gods and their henchmen. Yeah, it’s a little strange, but the storyline is filled with a lot of funny jokes and witty commentary to help keep this narrative entertaining.
Although this snail starts off as a pretty weak creature, the goal is to constantly mutate it and add upgrades to it, so that it can become stronger. To get upgrades, I needed to complete missions and gather intel across different areas. By doing this, I could attain resources and key components like body parts to add to my snail and mutate it into some horrendous beast with demon eyes and spiked skin. The missions were usually pretty simple, I just needed to explore areas, which didn’t really require any effort beyond patience. That said, there were a lot of minigames and little tasks I could do to keep myself busy while my snail explored alone.
Beyond missions and exploring the storyline, Super Snail has really pleasant visuals that almost seem hand-drawn. The light colors and loveable character designs really complement the storyline’s lighthearted atmosphere well. I also found the interface really polished. The game does have a lot of microtransactions which might be a little dissuading, but it’s nothing to worry about for anyone looking to play the game without spending money. Down to its core, Super Snail is one hell of an idle game that I’ve had a blast relishing these past few hours.
