Boundary (Full Review)
Released: 13 APR, 2023
Price: $23 USD
I haven't really given video games like Call of Duty any thought or attention in a very, long time. You see... the bar is set so low for that franchise and yet people still play them because they want to play with their friends, even if the game itself is worth nothing to them as a player. It's just a waste of time and a waste of money.
What actually can be said about this type of game?
Boundary is an Early Access space copy of Call of Duty. You have the bare bones for a game, with a couple of game modes, but a severe lack of polish.
There is still room for improvement with regarding bugs, audio problems, servers, and many other topics, however, I am unable to recommend it currently.
Issues
Spawn Camping
There is literally no defense in this game against spawn killing you or other players. Because everything is so open, the majority of the spawn spots that are considered to be "enclosed" may be entered by the other team, who can also camp outside and snipe at them from a variety of angles.
Being on either side of the deals is not enjoyable. The game is being ruined by one player while simultaneously being made less enjoyable for the teammates because they must either do the same thing or afk till the game is ended.
Science
When I initially saw this game, my first thought was, "Oh, a space game, which will definitely have space physics and cool things like that!" This is wrong.
They only correctly accounted for the movement of the jetpack and the fact that firing your rifle will cause you to push backwards in terms of space physics.
I truly want to see something different. These games have appeared frequently in the past, but the greatest issue with this one is the actual physics.
Why not use lasers to add a little more sci-fi and avoid the whole guns in space difficulties, since they can not be heard nor do they function the same way.
It's extremely unimpressive when you get shot, even if your helmet is broken, because all you need to do is tape yourself up with a handheld device that restores the integrity of your suit.
Servers
Your options for the servers you had specified as your defaults will be reset each time you log in, also it doesn't matter if you are from North America. You will be matched with 400 ping Korean, Chinese, and European players in the game, and you will lose because you are unable to hit them due to ping.
These need to be region-locked.
I understand that since the game is new, it would be more difficult to match players from the same location, but such ping differences are unnecessary.
ERROR
There may be times when you finish a game completely and are greeted with this magnificent display, which prevents you from progressing further in any of your classes and effectively erases the existence of the game you just finished, win or lose. This makes it exhausting when all you want to do is unlock things.
Gameplay
Lackluster
It's not all that enticing, as you can see. Since most people are hidden from different angles while you are upside down, it is difficult to distinguish what is up from what is down. This makes it difficult to view most players from angles.
It's more or less a free for all where you have to continuously be moving and taking the initiative rather than hiding behind cover or within structures due to the mini-map's complexity and the numerous skills each class can use to track.
Weapon Advantages
Due to the nature of some classes and their perks, especially if they have anything leveled up or specific weapons unlock that do a lot more than the base ones, it mainly consists of performing the same repetitive actions repeatedly while being sniped or one shot from across the map.
There really isn't much content here to tide you for any amount of time it gets stale very quickly, it gives you about 30 minutes to 1 full hour of death spinning gameplay before you feel ready to move onto something different and forget it.
Progression
This game's progression is far too simplistic.
There are no real obstacles to overcome; you simply need to play the game to get to (x) level. While there are six game modes available, all of them feel the same aside from Sabotage, which requires teams to bring bombs to the bases of the opposing teams in order to set them off, or Invasion, which forces players to push deeper into the enemy's territory with each objective they successfully obtain and vice versa if they manage to retake some of their own.
Conclusion
It's all pre-rendered eye candy
The gameplay and the trailers. Everything is done to give the impression that the game is wonderful, fast-paced, and full of action, but in truth, you'll keep dying to stuff you can't even see from across the map by 400 ping players.
This doesn't feel like a game that is worth anywhere close to the 20 dollar range, in fact. It should be a free game for what is being provided currently.
I normally give most Early Access games a chance, but in this case, there just isn't much here to be fully invested in supporting a game that there are many other variants of, like the Original Call of Duty franchise, rather than the recent ones.
The game is now in a very straightforward and basic state: battle, die, respawn. Win or lose, start over, progress to different (but few) costumes and weaponry, and keep playing the same game modes on the same reoccurring maps.
This concludes my views of this game; while my opinions may be met with criticism, that is what distinguishes gamers; you don't have to like the same things as others, nor do you have to agree with them.
If you want to catch me on one of my streams or locate me on social media, you may do so at the following locations, I'm always playing something new.

imitation how? cod isnt the first shooter. and how different do you expect all shooters to be?
2023-04-28
While Call of Duty isn't the "first" shooter, comparing it to CS:GO, Team Fortress 2, R6, BF, HALO, or any other shooter would be inappropriate. I don't expect most shooters to differ from one another because most developers are unwilling to take risks in new directions. The same is usually true in numerous genres, not just FPS. It feels more like an arcade game mode when compared to other games it matches the CoD franchise like Team Death match in the older titles. You get spawn camped like crazy. There are many things to mention. But in a saturated market such as the FPS genre simply "In space" isn't enough.
