Hi everyone, and welcome to my impressions about Sid Meier's Railroads, the classic tycoon game that's now available on mobile. In this video, I'll be giving you a brief overview of the game, as this is my first time playing the railroads base game by Sid meier. back in the day I've played a various amount of tycoon games.
What is Sid Meier's Railroads?
Sid Meier's Railroads is a tycoon game that puts you in the shoes of a railroad baron. Your goal is to build and manage a successful railroad company, competing with other companies to transport passengers and goods across the country.
The game is set in the 19th century, and you'll start out with a small amount of money and a few locomotives. As you progress, you'll need to build more tracks, purchase new locomotives, and hire workers. You'll also need to manage your finances carefully, as you'll need to make a profit in order to stay in business.
How to play Sid Meier's Railroads?
The game is played from a top-down perspective, and you can use the touchscreen to interact with the game world. To build tracks, simply tap on the ground where you want to place them. To purchase new locomotives, go to the train station and select the locomotive you want. To hire workers, go to the employment office and select the worker you want.
The more money you make, the further you can build. As this network expands you run into obstacles – trains can’t use the same spot of track on harder modes, so you need parallel tracks, for example. Meanwhile, up to three other players are trying to do the same thing as you, so some sneakily placed track can force you to go over it, raising the price of construction.
As time moves forward, your net worth increases. You have ten stocks to buy or sell, as does every other player. Managing your stocks to defend from other players, while buying up their stock to set yourself up for a merger or liquidation, should be in the back of your mind throughout. There are also patents, little bonuses like quicker speed on inclines, which give you a boost until they become public a little while later. All this doesn’t even bring in the different trains that get invented as time moves forward, which naturally increase in speed and bring other benefits, nor the building and owning of industries in cities, upgrading of terminals, and a bunch of objectives per scenario.
Here are a few tips and tricks to help you get started with Sid Meier's Railroads:
Start small. Don't try to build a huge railroad company right away. Start with a small company and gradually expand as you make more money.
Focus on profitable routes. Not all routes are created equal. Some routes are more profitable than others. When you're building your railroad, focus on the most profitable routes.
Upgrade your locomotives. As you progress, you'll need to upgrade your locomotives in order to keep up with demand. Upgrading your locomotives will also make them more efficient, which will save you money in the long run.
Manage your finances carefully. It's important to manage your finances carefully in Sid Meier's Railroads. If you don't make a profit, you'll go out of business.
Sid Meier's Railroads is a fun and challenging tycoon game that's perfect for mobile devices. If you're a fan of tycoon games, then I highly recommend giving Sid Meier's Railroads a try.
