Stay away from ANY game licensed by Crunchyroll! The other licensed street fighter duels are just fine and are f2p friendly but this one isn't! First mayor crossover was monster hunter Ken which was a legendary unit in the other versions and I'll go into detail on that class. Legendary units don't need dupes to be limit broken since they get linked to another unit and get the same rank or grade.
Example: Cammy at SSS linked with any legendary unit will make the legendary SSS with no needed investment.
Now for Crunchyroll monster hunter Ken was changed to the worst type in the game that requires multiple dupes of the same unit...that shouldn't be a problem if you saved gems right? Nope Dino a CM told people to "save" for MH Ken but when the event dropped it was a paid event! You could only get him by buying tears or special currency for pulls and the prices were insane. People started refunding ( myself included) because of the overall greed in these events.
Every single event ( besides one's that just give you things from login in or freebies ) had new special currency to get items or characters from them. To get it you must spend real money and to top it all off if you spent money on gems 💎 congrats you can't use it for any of these events! Imagine having a ton of gems that you grinded for or bought and are completely useless for event pulls or almost everything new...that's Crunchyroll in a nutshell.
The backlash was so bad Dino the CM had to bs and ban anyone who talked about it on discord. Guy went on a absurd power trip and shut everyone down. The reddit also had a huge meltdown with the mods ( these guys always do this ) that they stopped any topics on refunds since it was like wildfire.
The top post on the subreddit is a whale who refunded due to the greed and in defense of f2p players. It's just ridiculous but it is what it is.

Now you'd think they'd learn from all this and do a event without the bs right? Nope Akuma was released in a similar way MH Ken was released so they didn't learn anything. Please stay away from this version of the street fighter duel and from all games licensed by Crunchyroll...

I hope they bring that back because it's the best part of the game gone for no reason. Outside maybe they thought it was too complicated for western gamers. It better not be that because come on devs let us get good out here.

I don't usually respond to negative comments like this but you said a few things that aren't true so I going for it. It's not a worthless whine if multiple people refund hundreds and thousands of dollars because of these practices. No that's not how these games are since some games based on popular series aren't money hungry but most or all of Crunchyroll games are. Don't like them don't play them is just a excuse to let developers or license holders get away with this and end up ruining the game faster. Just because you accepted games to be this way doesn't mean others did or will because look at the backlash and refunds that happened. Please don't accept something bad and think that's how it goes because it doesn't have to be that way. I don't know what I did to make you respond in such a way but I hope you have a good day and enjoy the games you play.

Wish there were people like this in other gaming communities, fed up with the greed and bs devs. Also, a lot of mods on discord and/or reddit are like this. They let power go to their head and abuse it. Exactly why I rarely use discord and reddit.

Author likedThank you so much for reading my discussion or review! Sadly more and more mods realize that people can't stop them and do whatever they want. Sometimes games gets things right with only paid skins or things don't effect game play but some change things to make it harder to get if you don't pay. Why play a JRPG gacha with horrible rates and pay to win models everywhere when you could just buy a game for way less? I just want fair rates and good people behind it.
