Microsoft has announced that it plans to launch its Xbox Mobile Games App Store in 2024, with the aim of providing Xbox titles to players while opening up the gaming market to all.
The app store will challenge the dominance of Google and Apple Stores in the gaming market, and will rely on the recently acquired Activision Blizzard title Call of Duty: Mobile and King’s Candy Crush Saga for a healthy gaming experience.
Phil Spencer, CEO of Xbox and CEO of Microsoft Gaming, said the upcoming Digital Markets Act will provide significant growth opportunities, and with fair opportunities granted, Microsoft has a great chance to build a broader Xbox mobile platform.
This move is just the latest in Microsoft's efforts to establish its name in the gaming space, including a 10-year deal with NVIDIA Geforce for cloud gaming services. Gamers can expect more such deals and propositions in the future.
