Project BloodStrike is an upcoming Battle Royale game that is currently in Early Access on Mobile Devices, and while my initial impressions were good, they were soured pretty quickly as I dived deeper into the game. The gameplay is very similar to many other FPS battle royale games I have played on mobile.
There is a 5v5 match where you have to defend a rotating location and a battle royale mode that has both ranked and casual play. The battle royale mode has solo play, duo play and 4 player mode as well. My first couple of games were solo and had to play casual matches until I reached level 5. Once I reached level 5 I could do the ranked Battle Royale matches. I continued to play solo play and thought it ran pretty smoothly,
though I was pretty certain I was playing against bots, which is usually the case in the early matches. However it wasn't until I joined a 4 player team battle royale match that things got messy. I experienced horrible running animations from my team mates as if their knees had no knee caps so they could run like their legs were made of rubber. And then the server lag...
Players were rubber banding all over the place. Making it VERY hard to shoot someone. Which is horrible to experience during ranked play. My game was telling me that my ping was in the 30s, and yet my game experience was as if I was playing with over 1000 ping. This completely ruined my experience of the Battle Royale games.
Which is a shame because it is a pretty fun experience. The battle royale maps have you earning gold while playing, you can earn this gold from finding it on the map, and from killing enemy players. When you save up enough gold you can call for an air drop, which will grant you your own modded weapons that you had made out of the game, these will apparently always be better than what you can pick up on the maps.
Your armor is upgraded by picking up the enemy player dog tags, so if you're really good, your armor will get super upgraded from white color all the way to orange for the best armor. I know all this from experiencing the bot games, but if I was trying to only learn from the actual player matches, I think I would have put the game down a lot quicker.
I tried out the other mode called Hot Zone. This is the 5v5 match where you had to defend rotating defensive spots. And oh boy. The gumby legs and rubber banding players was present there too. Even though the game was telling me my pink was in the 30s to 40s. So yet again this was pretty unacceptable and I had a horrible time trying to kill other players while defending the locations. Such a shame.
It does seem like a very fun game. I'm sure that this will be fixed... I hope. Since this the final early access according to the developers, I hope they fix this. Because I was playing on the Asia servers, so I should be getting great latency. So I have NO idea why the gameplay was the way it is. But it was definitely a mess. Visually the game wasn't that great to look at either. While I had everything on Ultra settings, the graphics still seemed very blurry and I had trouble seeing enemies from far away unless I aimed.
The textures still looked very muddy up close and just didn't look like I was playing in ultra mode. Perhaps this is something that will be improved upon on the launch? I can't say but I hope so. Ultra should look a lot better than that if you ask me. The audio was okay, I was able to kind of figure out their general location, but it could be more accurate I think. Also I felt the voice overs were a bit too loud and a bit excessive, but maybe that's just me. Overall I'd say that Project BloodStrike has a lot of promise. But it's got a long way to go judging from my experience.
For a 'Last' Early Access period, I don't expect to experience such horrible gameplay when in a team match. Especially in a competitive Battle Royale match. I hope these things are fixed on release because I would love to play it. Sadly I can't make use of the early access rewards by completing many gameplay matches since the matches are virtually unplayable for me. Oh well.
nice detailed review ✨

was a bit laggy when they started the recent beta test, but had much less lag compared to the one before said beta test. they did fix this issue in a matter of hours if I recall, great gunplay, battle pass can be bought with a small amount of ingame currency that is easy to acquire by playing matches too. interesting tuning system with weapons, not a huge variety of weapons but the collection is still a good one.
