Captain Tsubasa: Ace, a game that I recently got to try out is a soccer game where you get to build a team and play with the iconic characters from the manga and anime.  According to the google play store description, "Captain Tsubasa: Ace is a mobile football game authorized by the "Captain Tsubasa" manga IP. Players can control Tsubasa Ozora, Kojiro Hyuga, and other players to use their iconic ultimate skills. Players can enjoy the fun of intense competition on the pitch through "Dream Team" , "Ace Showdown" and other game modes. Enjoy the fun of progression every match through a variety of player development options."

When I played the game, I found that the game play is very good. You have several game modes you can try, including the option to play against other players through the "Dream League" Though I have a feeling you're just playing against a players saved team and not playing against them in real time. Since you can choose an opposing team to play against instead of a matchmaking system. Still though, it's pretty fun to play against other players saved teams. There is also a campaign mode in the "Football Field Trial" Where you can practice against NPC teams and try to get 3 stars from the tasks the game gives you.

There are various missions and achievements to complete, completing them will provide you with plenty of items, including summoning tickets for the Gacha. I was pretty lucky to get 1 legendary player after my 30th pull. You can also choose your lineup manually, or just auto deploy the lineup, allowing the game to make that decision for you. The matches themselves are crazy intense. There is so many special move cinematics to add extra adrenalin to a match. And then the amount of buttons to press is pretty crazy.

Depending on a situation and where you are on the pitch can change your skill buttons to some other move, and then there's also ultimate skills and combo skills that will light up when they're ready to use. However as with most of the games in this genre, I always lose track of who I am controlling and the biggest thing for me is when I get confused on the uniforms, when playing as home or away, the uniform changes, and then I sometimes get confused as to which team I am because the last game I was wearing the opposing teams uniform, and then it swaps around.

So I get a bit confused with all of that. Other than that though, the matches are high tension, super adrenalin rushing games that have high intensity cut scenes that truly amplify the feeling of the games themselves, and I absolutely love that. I love the visuals of the game too. The 3D anime style characters look good, and so do the pitches the teams play on. Everything is looking very detailed and I'm quite impressed. I was playing the game on the maximum settings and the character models and texture maps  were high detailed and very impressive.

The audio is great too, there is lots of screaming of voice actors while the games are playing which also adds to the intensity that the game is trying to portray. I was worried it may be annoying after a while, but I never felt that way. It just amplified the urgency of each match and I was loving it so much. The sound effects for the kicking of the ball and the overall sound in general was very good. Everything sounded like it belonged and didn't sound poorly done either. So well done on the audio side of things. Overall I'd say that Captain Tsubasa: Ace is a fantastic soccer game that truly captures the feeling of an anime sports game. I had so much fun playing this and I think if you're  a fan of anime, Captain Tsubasa or just an anime soccer fan, you should definitely give it a try.

A superb anime soccer game with some pesky microtransactions
SHOULD I PLAY CAPTAIN TSUBASA: ACE? Play it, especially if you like soccer. When I first played Captain Tsubasa: Ace during a test in July, I was a little surprised by how much I liked it. Even though I’ve never been a huge sports game player, I found myself having a lot of fun with this one. Fast-forward a few months to this official release, and the core gameplay has stayed intact while the game has received even more visual polish. The only downgrade from testing is that microtransactions are now a much bigger part of the game and rewards are given much less generously.

I’d say that Captain Tsubasa: Ace should definitely be on your radar if you’re a lover of sports anime, or just football in general. I think this game will be a huge success when it comes out, and many people will be enjoying it. I really didn’t have too much to complain about with this game. I enjoyed majority of what I experienced and I think you will too. I think this game deserves an 8/10 overall score and I look forward to when it comes out.
