Mojo Melee - A UNIQUE TAKE On The Auto Chess Genre.

The brand new auto chess battle game Mojo Melee is out for open beta at the moment and I had the pleasure of trying out this game. Now, I'm not really a fan of auto chess games, so let's see if this one can grab my attention. The gameplay is somewhat interesting, you have to place your units on the board before you begin battling, and you can anticipate where your enemy will be, due to the silhouette of where your enemy units will be placed on their board.

As long as you have the gold to place down a unit, you can place it down. Gold is accumulated after each round and the game works on a best of 3 wins situation. There is 3 modes to the game, Dueling which is a 1v1 match, a melee mode which is an 8v8 all out brawl and a practice mode. During the beta I was unable to match with anyone so I had no choice but to play the practice mode only. I kept getting an error when I tried to match with other players, which was unfortunate.

The combat is pretty straight forward to be honest. Drop your units on the board, power them up by putting doubles on the board, and you can buff them as well with items. Once you have buffed and placed your units on the board, there's not much else to do other than to watch and hope you win the round. And that's about it for the combat really. Visually the game looks pretty decent. The 3D character designs are detailed and high quality.

I'm not a fan of the character designs however. It isn't something that interests me which is a shame. However the graphics overall are very good and the game can be run at 60fps as well when you turn it on in the settings. The audio of the game is decent as well. All combat sound effects were correct and it didn't sound like there was anything missing while I was playing it.

I couldn't find anything negative to say in regards to the audio of the game, so good job on that. It's pretty good especially considering this is only a beta. So nicely done there. Overall I'd say that Mojo Melee is a pretty okay auto chess game, the combat is pretty fun even though you spend most of your time just watching.

I think the game is not bad. Would I play this when it comes out though? Probably not. I don't like the character designs and as I said before, I'm not a fan of auto chess games. However if you're a fan of these types of games, I think you should definitely give it a try. It's not bad.
