Blizzard Entertainment, the company behind legendary franchise titles such as Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft, has announced that it will be making a significant move by bringing its PC games to the popular gaming platform Steam. This decision comes as a surprise to many, leading to speculation that it could be linked to Microsoft's impending acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
The first game to be released on Steam as part of this new strategy will be Overwatch 2, scheduled to launch on August 10. Currently, Blizzard's PC games are exclusively available through its own platform, Battle.net. However, with the declining player engagement in Overwatch 2 and the impending Microsoft acquisition, it seems that Blizzard is looking to diversify its distribution channels and reach a wider audience.

While Blizzard has only confirmed Overwatch 2 for the Steam release to go along the upcoming Overwatch 2: Invasion Bundle, the company has mentioned that "a selection" of its games will be making the transition. The specifics have not been disclosed, but it leaves us with potential prospect of beloved games such as Diablo IV and World of Warcraft apeparing on Steam.
One notable advantage of this move --- an info which came from Blizzard itself --- is that players will no longer require the Battle.net launcher to access Blizzard games on Steam. Instead, they will only need a Battle.net/Activision account to launch the games. This streamlined approach could simplify the gaming experience for players who prefer using Steam as their primary gaming platform.
The decision to bring Blizzard games to Steam may be seen as a strategic move to tap into Steam's vast user base and leverage its established infrastructure. It could also be an effort by Blizzard to revitalize player engagement and reach a wider audience, as Steam remains one of the most popular platforms for PC gaming.

This move could be related to Microsoft's ongoing acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The tech giant's acquisition of one of the gaming industry's biggest players could potentially bring about significant changes to how Blizzard operates. By expanding its presence on Steam, Blizzard may be positioning itself to adapt to the new landscape that the acquisition might bring. It's also a sign that these games are also coming to Gamepass, and soon. For now, fans can look forward to a more accessible and diverse gaming experience as Blizzard opens its doors to the Steam community.

For sure it will come to Android Xbox Cloud gaming soon. For an actual android port, we'll have to see what Microsoft will do with that in the coming months/years. Fun fact: The game is already available for Switch, which is using the same architecture of Android, so porting it should be easier than a full-port.

Another year! Activision games coming to Game Pass in 2024 instead of 2023.
Ahead of the probable completion of Microsoft's Activision Blizzard acquisition, Activision has elucidated on the potential introduction of its games to Game Pass. It affirms that fans should not anticipate the occurrence before 2024, after the deal gets the go-ahead. Activision's games are conspicuous by their absence on Xbox's Game Pass, a phenomenon that was expected to change post Microsoft’s monumental $69 billion buyout of the firm behind Call of Duty. With expectations high about the deal concluding sometime this week, subject to approval from the UK's Competition and Markets Authority, speculation of Activision's integration into Game Pass has moved from a speculative 'if' to a definite 'when'.
