Deadlink is a brand new rogue like fast paced FPS game that is available on PC and you can grab it on Steam now. There isn't much of a story in this game as far as I can tell, there is some chatter between the NPC's in your base, but I couldn't find anything of interest in the story whatsoever, but it's not really the story that is the highlight of this game anyway.
The gameplay is where it's all at in this game. You go from instance to instance with a primary and secondary gun, and you have to shoot up as many enemies as the rooms hold before you can move onto the next room. Throwing grenades on your enemies will make them drop more items and shield recharge drops, which are very valuable compared to just killing them straight up. You also have a grappling hook and an ability to stun the enemies as well. You can grapple to just about everything that can be highlighted, and it does have a cool down. You can use the grapple to also grab onto the balls floating in the sky, these balls also hold ammo and other items of value so it's good to grab those when you can.
Due to the fast paced nature of the game, you will have to think fast, and juggle all your available skills to take down the enemy as best as you can. Once you complete a room, you can then pick random upgrades that the game gives you. From new primary weapon modes and cybernetic upgrades. These upgrades require a certain amount of battery power to apply to your mods section, so pay attention to what the mods battery requirements are.
And these mods will also only activate based on which mod section you place them. Each time you go back in, the experience will be different too, thanks to the randomized maps. So every adventure will be a new experience for the most part. Honestly this gameplay is fantastic and I had so much fun playing this game. The visuals of this game are stunning too. Running in Unreal Engine, the game looks fantastic. Everything has a shine to it, and the cyberpunk world comes to life.
The character designs are cool too, and the guns you have will also change as you upgrade them. It's a very good looking game, and I'm super impressed by what this game has to offer in the visual department. The audio was great too, the background music was very fitting for the cyberpunk aesthetic, and the combat sound effects were engaging and immersive.
There was no poor audio sounds that I could hear and it all sounded great. Overall I'd say that Deadlink is an amazing roguelike FPS shooter that's challenging and super engaging. With it's jaw dropping visuals and fast paced gun play you will be enjoying the high intensity gameplay for hours and hours. Especially with the randomly generated maps. If you love roguelike games and a good looking FPS, then I highly recommend you picking this up on Steam now.
