Reviewing one of the favorite Indie games with the most well-told story, creative bosses, and unique environments, we are back with more grotesque creatures!
Today, we are taking a look at Blasphemous II.
Side note before we start!
You do not have to play Blasphemous I to understand II since this is a new story, but the story does continue from the free DLC to Blasphemous I called "Wounds of Eventide."
Summary:
Awakened in a strange new land and displaced from his final resting place, The Penitent One is thrust back into the endless cycle of life, death, and resurrection, with no option but to explore this perilous new world and uncover its long-forgotten secrets.
Hordes of grotesque enemies stand in your way, awaiting final judgment by the brutal hand of the Penitent One, with titanic twisted bosses also lurking in the darkness, waiting for their chance to return you to the grave from whence you came.
Taking them down won't be easy, but with Blasphemous 2 offering more chances to customize and improve your skill set and several new unique weapons to wield with righteous zeal and unending fury, victory might be within grasp.
Ultimately, only one thing is sure… Penance Never Ends
My Experience:
So, I have played Blasphemous 1, but not the DLC. To compare Blashp I and Blashp II, there are alot of updates visually; you can choose 1 out of 3 beginning weapons (you do gain them throughout your adventure).
It is always a good time to come to the " Blasphemous " series, look around at the impressive environments, and see how things can go from wandering throughout the areas to meeting a hideous eldritch monster wanting to take you down.
Seeing the different ways to take down your enemies, using various abilities, weapons that can help you travel throughout the map, and others that can make devastating attacks on bosses!
My combo of weapons in Blasphemous II that I like using so far is Ruego Al Alba (I Hope I pronounced that right )
So far, this weapon has been the most useful in combination with the Veredicto to have one with the ability to counter and block. At the same time, the other can hit an enemy throughout the environment!
Pros and Cons of Blasphemous II
Pros:
Amazing Pixel Art
Upgraded Controls
Well Designed Enemies and Story!
Good grotesque bosses
No Bugs!
5 to 8 hours of Gameplay!
Spikes do not instakill you.
Cons:
Backtracking is too frequent and tedious
Unskippable cutscenes before most boss fights
Verdict:
Blasphemous II has been a fun, soul-like Metrovania game, and I recommend getting one and two to go through the entire story! See the fantastic environments and enemies, and experience a dark tale like no other!
Now do your duty, penitent one
Blasphemous II gets a rating of Highly Recommended!
