Hello everyone, Joash here.I’m producer of Metal Mind. As we approach the next major update for Metal Mind, I was lucky enough to be invited by TapTap, to be as parts of Indie Spotlight. I wanted to reflect on this wild ride we've embarked on, and why, despite all odds, our indie spirit remains unbroken.
Remembering My Big Studio Days
I used to be a designer of AAA studio that responsible for big titles like Final Fantasy XIV, Assassin's Creed, etc. Working at a major game studio had its perks. But, often, it felt like being trapped in a fancy cage. While big studios have the glitz and glamor, they also come with heaps of profit-driven pressure. I longed for the days when I could chase crazy ideas without someone looking over my shoulder, counting pennies.
The Rocky Road of Indie Development
Switching to indie was a breath of fresh air, but boy, it wasn’t easy. Balancing our vision for Metal Mind with what investors wanted felt like a tug-of-war. We faced countless pushbacks, with many advising us to stick to “what sells”. But for us, it was never just about sales. We wanted to make Metal Mind our way, a true tribute to mech lovers everywhere.
Why Every Challenge is Worth It
Indie development is tough, no doubt about it. But every hurdle, every challenge, reminds us why we do what we do. I cherish everyone who helped us along the road of gaming dreams. We aren’t here to churn out another generic game. We’re here to put our heart into something, to give you a game that’s crafted with passion.
Dear gamers, I believe you can sense the passion and grind behind every pixel in Metal Mind. Our message? Stay true to what you love.
Metal Mind is now open for pre-registration on TapTap! Pre-register now for the game and stay tuned for our playtest in the upcoming Indie Spotlight event in October!
Keep gaming, keep dreaming,
Joash
