In celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Sword Art Online franchise, BANDAI NAMCO announced Sword Art Online Variant Showdown today. This free-to-play mobile action game is scheduled to be released worldwide this year. Meanwhile, a pre-registration event is made available via its official website. SHOULD I PLAY SWORD ART ONLINE LAST RECOLLECTION? Play it, especially if you’re a fan of the Sword Art Online anime/manga/light novel series. Sword Art Online: Last Recollection is an action RPG set during the third season of the anime. It’s a great representation of the series, but it suffers in a few ways mostly tied to its presentation: ugly visuals, poor animation, and delayed actions. I’d still recommend it to fans of the series, though, who’ll find plenty to enjoy here.

Sword Art Online Variant Showdown recently revealed details about its upcoming closed beta test in June. The test will start on June 10 and end on June 14. If you want to be part of it, you can apply now via its official website. Note that the application will close on May 16. A total number of 10,000 players will be selected for the beta.
