The large update for Cyberpunk 2077, titled Phantom Liberty, has been released. Perhaps you haven't noticed yet, but we have a new friend. In the Dogtown, a special NPC character named Qian Si Hu has appeared. In the game, he is a cyberware doctor responsible for assisting people in maintaining and repairing their cyberware.
In fact, this character's prototype is a rare disease patient named Wang Renfei. He is a dedicated fan of this game. After the official release of Cyberpunk 2077, he used 3D printing technology to create some small models, such as headphones or Relic chip models because he was particularly fond of the characters in the game.
Wang Renfei has not been fortunate. From birth, he has suffered from a rare disease known as progressive muscular dystrophy. This is an incurable condition, and patients typically lose their ability to move around the age of 10 and eventually succumb to heart failure around the age of 20. Since birth, he has been playing a game of hide and seek with the Grim Reaper.
3D printing was one of his few hobbies because it didn't require much physical effort—just moving fingers, loading materials, and applying paint. He poured immense passion and patience into his hobby, gaining widespread recognition. He ran a small model-making shop online, and many gamers would purchase Cyberpunk 2077 game models from him. He had gained a modest level of fame within the gaming community.
But one day, he suddenly disappeared. After some time, "he" came back online with a new message: he had unfortunately passed away due to his illness, and now his mother was taking over the shop.
Announcement from Mother of Qian Si Hu
Inside the shop, there were still many unfinished orders. His mother didn't want to disappoint the equally passionate gamers, so she left a notice in the shop: "I have learned 3D printing technology, but my skills are not yet proficient. If you have any issues with your orders, please contact me promptly." In the notice, she stated that a portion of the shop's earnings would be donated to help underprivileged children who couldn't afford education, aiming to assist more people.
These past few days, the "Phantom Liberty" DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 was officially released, and players in the city stumbled upon a character with the same name, Qian Si Hu. They quickly shared this discovery with the mother, and she was overwhelmed with joy, saying, "That's truly my son. I hope he is healthy and happy over there—this holiday, I will learn how to play this game."
So, through this mother's narrative, we learned the second half of the story.
After media reports about this unique shop and story emerged, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) noticed it. They proactively reached out to the mother, expressing their desire to obtain photos and personal information about Qian Si Hu to create him as an NPC in the game. They also requested the mother to keep this a secret until the game went live — it was a pre-arranged surprise.
Attention, Night City! Today, we have the privilege of hosting a distinguished individual among us. He is a renowned cyberware specialist, possessing the unique ability to restore memories, mend the very fabric of life, and, remarkably, decipher the enigmatic codes of Relic chips, ensuring that even death cannot elude his grasp.
Long live life, and may love endure forever. Thank you, CDPR, for everything you've done. Thank you for remembering him.

I'm humbled... To battle such a battle for so long, to put his efforts into making things people love and enjoy instead of allowing himself to find depression as a crutch. Such a man is worthy of this honor and so much more... His contributions will be forever. I will be visiting him in my play and thanking him for his work. I bow my head at this moment and wish him safe travels in his next life.
