Revelation M, developed by HaoPlay and published by NetEase, is touted as an MMORPG that is less about playing a game and more about living a second life. It advertises a myriad of different ways for players to engross themselves into its massive world with a robust character creation system and customization.
Though I went pretty vanilla with my character, the sheer depth and options for customizing your character blew my mind. I feel like you can get pretty crazy with how many ways you can design your character.
Environments are equally well-crafted. Revelation M gives you a good glimpse into the scope of its massive world, complete with culture and landmarks that makes the world feel lived in rather than mere set dressing. There’s sprinklings of lore here and there if that’s your deal.
Combat is straightforward and tied to your character’s class. I chose the Blademaster and my attacks were about what I expected for someone skilled with a sword.
The voice acting straight up sucks. You can tell right off the bat that it is AI due to how deadpan and lifeless the lines come across. Not only that, whoever did the sentence mixing and pacing supremely screwed up because at one moment you can be speaking super slowly and the next you sound like a chipmunk.
Combat is a mixed bag. Though it’s simple, it can become unresponsive randomly, eating inputs and being really delayed. It also has this weird quirk where certain actions can only be performed if an enemy is in range, which messes with the pacing.
All in all, I personally feel that Revelation M has potential. Hopefully it doesn’t squander it in the future.
