Rogue-lite elements come from the usual randomized choice of three upgrades whenever you level up during runs, ranging from additional projectiles to defense mechanisms to entirely new activated abilities, and the game offers a variety of ships with distinct starting abilities, unlocked through challenges and milestones.
Perhaps what's new in this game as compared to other rogue-lite space shooters is the inclusion of planetary exploration and resource harvesting, allowing players to strategically gather resources between waves by landing planets with a simplistic mechanic. It’s not very deep, but it’s a nice added gameplay layer that is slightly removed from the twitchy bullet-hell nature of rogue-lite shooters.

Arcadium - Space Odyssey is currently available to play through their demo, and I tried it out myself on Steam. This game is bright and colorful and a lot of fun. The bullet hell is wild and crazy and the roguelike elements are great too!
