NIGHTFALL - February 2024 Developer Update (v1.2.0)

- New Killer: The Trident
The Trident is a new mobility killer. Hailing from eastern Turkey, as she grew, she became more and more mermaid. She was eventually casted out by her village due to being a freak, and many wanted to kill or sell her for a fortune. Now, she joins the mist to take out her anger, as the mist promised her she could. Read Dreyda's origin story here.
Power: Riptide
Start the game with a trident as a secondary weapon alongside your Iron Hoe. You can not deal any damage with the trident. Your trident is enchanted with Riptide 2, so drawing the trident back and releasing will propel you through the air in the direction you are looking. You also passively make any map you are playing on have Rain.
- New Survivor: Rei Kimura
Rei Kimura is a new support survivor. Born in Japan, she had a knack for spellmaking. She was enlisted onto a boarding school after begging her parents to go, but what they didn't know was that it was a spell school, and that it was a ploy for her to escape them. After Rei packed her things and gave her parents her goodbyes, she boarded the ship and was never seen again. She joins the mist as a spellmaker, able to use her spells to her advantage. Perk: Vitalize
Start the game with 1 token. Token does not recharge. Consume a token on a targeted ally to VITALIZE them, granting them Regeneration of 1 HP every 2.5 seconds for 33.75 seconds, increased speed and jump distance by 20% for 135 seconds, and jump height increased by 0.5 blocks for 135 seconds. Tokens cap at 0 after consumption.
- New Map: Corrupted Spellhouse
A corrupted and damaged version of the spell school Rei attended, the mist mixed in the school with the background of Dreyda's story, leaving the school with a lake in the middle and the corrupted building nearby, with tons of trees due to its secrecy.
- Welcome SEASON 7: FADE OUT
Season 7's theme is "Fade Out", expanding the lore of The Ghost (Reya Spencer) and Tyler Beck (The Shade). Fade Out marks the shortest season, being only 43 days long. Complete master challenges to expand the lore of these characters, and reach tier 20 of the premium track to unlock the Student of the Month Trophy mythic item for The Ghost and the Interdimensional Star mythic item for Tyler Beck. The season ends on March 19.
- MAX RAINSFORD REWORK
Max Rainsford was overdue for a rework after we buffed and kinda changed Jayden Flores. We buffed Jayden back to 3 perk uses and also added the new ability to rescue himself, leaving Max in the dark since his main ability was to rescue himself. In this perk rework, we have changed him from a low B tier survivor to a high A tier survivor, making him a formidable survivor to face.
Perk: Indomitable Spirit
Start the game with a token. Tokens cap at 1 and recharge every time you break the last block of a beacon. Consume a token to build a resistance, becoming immune to debuffs for 10 seconds. Activating Indomitable Spirit also removes active debuffs.
The perk change aligns more with Max's lore than his previous perk, although they both were pretty spot on with Max's idea of being resistant to submission. We hope that in adding Indomitable Spirit, he becomes a more frequently purchased survivor and makes killers quiver in their boots when facing him. Please note that activating Indomitable Spirit removes debuffs including the Slowness debuff from Trapper's traps (activating while stuck breaks the trap) or if Max is cursed by the Witch, activating Indomitable Spirit removes the curse and puts the Killer on cooldown.
Please note that you can not activate while suffering from the "Hacked" debuff (the 5 second ability lockdown when caught in range of The Hacker's EMP) as it literally locks down abilities, so you can't use yours until Hacked wears off.
- Upcoming Bloody Valentine Event
The Bloody Valentine event is our Valentine's Event that begins February 12th and ends February 23rd. The event celebrates Valentine's Day in the NIGHTFALL aspect. Since it is a full event, event challenges and an exclusive event shop will be there. Earn "OT", Obsessed Tokens, in the form of Spider Eyes, as the event currency.
Additionally, starting on February 7 and ending February 14, we are hosting a mini event to celebrate the birthdays of 3 of our 4 developers! Happy birthday Zxmb1ee, Zxr0 Hxp3, and the owner, EL KITO 80!
- What does "lore updates" mean?
In the roadmap, we intentionally put a "lore updates" bullet point along with the rest of the stuff under February 2024. This bullet point means we are expanding the lore of NIGHTFALL. The initial beginning of the NIGHTFALL timeline started in December 2023 when we released The Necromancer and Alana Rion (as that was the first time a mist killer lured new victims for the mist, check the wiki for more info), but this means from now on, new characters will enter the game somehow through other characters and game lore will also be expanded along with the designated characters of future seasons.
