Good day to you all, Party players!
Our last article explored how Tina as a character was first conceptualized. Today, let’s focus on her skill design and how you can best utilize them in battle.
From the start, Tina was designed with agile moves as her predominant mode of attack. Veteran players should have no trouble figuring out how to leverage her unique skills the same way they did with Magician’s traps, Heracles’ fury, and Alice’s cakes. As for Tina, we have given her her own unique mechanism based on speed as her forte—Wallbound.
To trigger this mechanism: drag the joystick up + jump when Tina touches any walls while jumping. This will allow her to leap in the opposite direction for a short distance. Do note that Tina’s wallbound distance will gradually decrease with each consecutive jump, so do not rely on wallbound to stay suspended in the air.
Tina’s [Down Special] Hawk Dive can also trigger Wallbound, allowing Tina to have more flexibility and maneuverability around edges and cliffs. Mastering this skill can allow players to avoid getting hit by opponents who wait by the edges to combo and counterattack. Therefore, compared to other characters, Tina is a more outstanding performer when it comes to fighting at the edge. However, accidental out-of-bounds due to Wallbound can be a common problem, which we shall address and optimize in the future so that she will end up facing the wall after Wallbound.
Tina’s [Neutral Special] Shadow Strike is one of her ultimate skills. Tina will first release an afterimage that rushes at her opponent. If it hits, Tina will teleport behind her opponent. If it doesn’t, the afterimage will return to the same spot after idling for a short moment. When using this technique, her afterimage will destroy most throwable objects in mid-air, with the exception of Cupid’s Charged Arrow and Heracles’ Comet, etc, after they are struck. If this coincides with her hitting the opponent, it’s a good opportunity for a combo. Therefore, when fighting opponents on the ground, Tina should use her speed to close in with her opponents and utilize her Shadow Zoom to initiate attacks and gain an advantage in the battle.
When facing off against Tina, players should try to attack her original self from other angles due to her hitbox being in the original space when using [Neutral Special].
Quickly raising an opponent’s knock-out score to KO them requires mastery of [Side Special] Swallow Riposte. This technique allows Tina to take a quick step back before charging forward, dealing a 3-damage hit, as well as launching the opponent in the final hit.
While attacking, dragging the joystick up will change the ending action into kicking the enemy upward. This means Tina can improvise based on situations and thus chain more damaging combos to secure victory.
Tina’s stepping back in Swallow Riposte also has a split-second invincibility duration, so it is possible to utilize this to evade attacks in battle. A simple combo to do so and counterattack can be:
using [Neutral Special] to teleport behind the enemyfollow up with [Side Special] while dragging the joystick up, launching the opponent into the airusing [Up Special] to round off the attackTina’s weight is relatively light, so players must take note of her knock-out score. At the same time, do take note that Tina’s mid-air attacks focus on the front, up, or diagonal-down, so her downward attacks are not as strong as her brother Sivi’s. Then again, these two heroes have their unique strengths and can perform different moves, so it’s about learning how to use them effectively.
