Day 19: Street Dude - Homeless Empire
Platform: Android
This is interesting and a little silly, and it's decent fun if you enjoy a bit of automation (which can be toggled off in the settings) but also enjoy running around freely. You basically gather resources from dumpsters to open other areas, and often need to trade in some resources for others. If you're running short, there's plenty of free resource piles laying about, but you've got to watch an ad for each one.
Speaking of ads, they're usually about 30 seconds each and there's enough of them to become annoying after a while. Occasionally when you open up a new part of the area you're in, you get an ad. Want to upgrade particular passive traits when you level up? Ad. Plus the banner ad at the bottom can be a bit annoying as well.
Anyway, enough about the ads. There's bosses to fight, other street folk to fight, areas to open, and a lot of grind for resources. Luckily though it's all automatic, so if you want to farm for a bit, just stand between two dumpsters and set your phone down for a bit and when you come back, you'll be good to go. It takes 11 seconds from start to respawn, so it's not too bad.
I made it to the third area (the first was very short, the second was a little grindy) and spent most of my time sitting thru dumpsters (a lot of idle time as well) and smacking baddies (which also respawn of you stray too far from their original location and come back.) Each area seems to have its own cash shop pack, the second being over double the price of the first, and all it is is no ads and a bunch of resources that you can get fairly easily through rummaging around in the dumpsters. Not worth the money, in my opinion. Also once you clear an area, you can hire some of the hobos to scrounge up resources for you. Not sure how long it takes them to get back what you hired them for though. Another cool thing is you can accumulate the free cash currency while you're offline.
You also have access to a wardrobe and can change clothing and hats, and some bosses drop some as well. Others can be bought in the cash shop, as in-app purchases.
So far it feels rather repetitive and I just feel like I'm doing the same thing over and over, just in different parts of the map (including the idle farming) and different areas, but I'm still rather enjoying it and I have been playing it still as I type this out, but honestly I think I'm done now since the ads have gotten really annoying 😅
I recommend it if you like weird games that don't make you work or think too hard, and are patient when it comes to ads.
