🎮 Game: Death Stranding Directors Cut [iPhone 15 Pro Max]
🍭 Platform: iOS | PlayStation 4/5 | XBOX/PC Gamepass | Windows [Steam/Epic] |
✨ Genre: Open World | Action | Walking Simulator | Sci-Fi | Story Rich |
💀Death Stranding Director's Cut is out now for iOS and I played it on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, and while I did find it visually stunning, I thought that the writing was too small, even after choosing a larger text, making it very hard to see button prompts on the screen, and also the emulated controller setup on the screen was invasive and obstructive of what was happening on the screen. Ruining a game that honestly seemed very interesting and I wanted to enjoy more than I did.
💀Fantastic visuals
💀Ugly on screen control setup
💀Hard to use controls for more sensitive things like climbing hard terrain
💀Requires a phone cooler, or your phone will heat up something fierce
💀Story rich experience with well known actors and motion capture
💀I enjoyed the music playing while traveling
💀On screen controls made it hard to play
💀On screen controls made reading difficult and cluttered
💀It made me want to play on PC
💖💔Overall, I want to give this game praise for what I did experience of it so far. The game was intriguing and got me curious enough to want to play it on PC. The controls for mobile were horrible and while they were not as bad as Resident Evil 4 on iOS, they were still pretty bad. I truly wish that instead of trying to emulate a controller scheme on top of the game itself, build an actual mobile game control system for it. So the game could be played in a much more mobile friendly way. The only way you can really play on an iPhone is if you hook up a bluetooth controller. I think that would be the only way to enjoy it. That way the controller UI wouldn't be obstructing the screen. But you would still have to deal with the horribly small button prompts that were hard to read even when holding the phone close to my face. In the end this game is meant to be played on a much larger screen than an iPhone. Due to the poor user interface controller setup and the small writing, I was just unable to enjoy my experience in this game. And so while I do think this game deserves a higher score for how interesting and beautiful it is. The iOS version is horrible At least when playing it on an iPhone. Because of that I can only give this game a 6/10 overall score.

Death Stranding is still better on PlayStation, but the iOS version isn’t a total loss
When I first heard that legendary game developer Hideo Kojima was creating a postapocalyptic open-world game starring The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus, I was through the roof with excitement. And yet, when that game finally launched in 2019, with a pandemic looming right around the corner, it somehow slipped my radar. Who could’ve guessed that just over four years later, a full, triple-A console game like
