Its a very beautiful Metroidvania with an oddly peaceful but beautifully eerie mixture going on. Think something like a goth/fairy kind of feel to it, but there's a hint of wrongness there as you meet a few Eldritch like horrors.
The music choice is very well done for the areas and it will matches the atmosphere very well.
You play as Lily the white priestess as she awakens and embarks on a truly desperate quest to save/liberate the kingdom, and by proxy, the world from the Rain of Death that's plagued the lands and no one knows how or why. Further still, no one knows what's happened to kingdom's royalty, it's soldiers and warrior or even the church and the other priestesses.
You can expect all the goodies that you'd normally run across in a Metroidvania such as defeating a boss for upgrades like unlocking the double jump or a dash, plenty of backtracking to unlock more areas and so on.
You acquire the souls of certain individuals (may or may not be bosses) that gives you the abilities that will impact your playstyle. And when combined with your charms, you'll be able to mix and match and come up with a playstyle that's unique for you.
With recent updates, they've added a few modes to help make the game more challenging and keep new runs fresh, such as a boss rush, harder difficulty, and even ways to tweak yourself to add more or less of a handicap for yourself and the enemies.
Overall, it's no Metroid Dread (so don't expect the high levels nail-biting action) or Hollow Knight (with it's challenging level of platforming) so don't try to compare them because that would honestly be unfair.
But overall, it's honestly a good game and if you put in the effort, you'll find a beautiful story underneath.
Just played it. Loved the eerie vibe and the challenge it provides.
