AFK Journey, the awaited “Sequel” to the classic game AFK Arena, more diverse and polished, has more to offer and more to explore.

🎮🌲Gameplay & Exploration.
The game offers multiple modes to choose from ranging from PvP to PvE ones, many will require you to progress in the game to unlock as you play.

The game modes shown above are a mix of PvP & PvE game modes such as Boss battles, Arena pvp and Deck building pvp as well as the classic AFK stages these can be done at anytime and the game will continue to farm the stage you stopped at even when the game is closed (AFK farming).

AFK stages farming can keep going as long as you can beat the stages it offers and it gets harder and harder each time you progress.

There is also the open world/map that you can explore and each area you complete will grant you rewards for your efforts and unlock warp point too.

The open world exploration is mixed with Chests to find, quests to complete and monsters to fight! And you can also see other players as you explore and do some specific co-op stages together if needed.

👾⚡️Characters & Upgrades.

This game has a ton of character to make your team of 5 from! And in addition to that it has different factions and different classes as well!, we won’t go into much detail on those but the basics are (Tank, Healer, DPS, Buffer…etc) the usual suspects.

Note: when you level up your team of 5 lineup the rest of your library levels up with them! The whole library of heros takes their level from the Resonance Level shown.

Class Upgrades are basically stats given to every hero in a specific class as shown below, each hero class is upgrades separately but all heros of the same class get the stats regardless of their level, this is like their Gear/ Armory!

Artifacts are magical tools used by the player in battle to help the whole team, these can be passive healing and damage reduction, random bolts of lightning hitting the enemy, damage increases to the whole team or damage overtime on the enemy. The choices start small but they grow diverse overtime as you play.

📜🧧 Missions & Quests.

The Growth Path is missions you complete as you explore and progress, they are basically your milestones on different stages of the game.

Temporal Journal is your main story quests and town quests you get as you explore, these are essential to the overall progression of the game.

Nobel Tavern is your battle-pass, the more missions and quests you complete the more rewards you get ( there is a paid version obviously).

This page below has multiple missions & rewards to offer new players of the game, this is basically your daily log-in rewards and participation achievements milestones. The more you play the more you get rewarded basically.

🎎🧮 The Guild system.

Guilds are important in this game, they offer many rewards for completing guild missions and there are guild specific events to participate in that offer even more rewards when completed!

🎰 The Gacha system.

This is much similar to any other gacha system in mobile games, you have a limited character banner with RATE UP ⬆️ as well as the standard banner for all other characters and an EPIC banner that offers more chances to get stronger characters, basically the game has alot of banners to choose from.

Personal observation: I recommend staying away from the limited banners for starting and F2P players, the standard banners have more value for the long run.

Character creation is sorta a thing in this game, you can make your character and have some cosmetics for them as well like Capes, clothes, glasses and hats, these do not add to your stats they are just cosmetics.

👁️🧠👁️ Thoughts and observations.

First thing’s first, i like this game and i think it is very fun. It is beautiful to look at and the story is not half bad too if you’re into that sort of thing.

But… like the previous game “AFK Arena” it is very easy to pay to win/progress in this game and become far stronger than any of the F2P players around you and since this game has progression stages and leaderboards for events and bosses, i view this as a bad thing and such a missed opportunity to learn from their previous game and why many people stopped playing it in the long run.

Score: 6/10 ✨👍🏼.

It is definitely a fun game but i can see the that it might not be played for long by casuals due to its p2w potential being so high at release.

Context note: i as a 100k power F2P player met players at 400-700k power at day 2 of the game, it is that huge of a difference.
