SimplePlanes has too much to offer in very small mobile package! I still can't believe something like this is so effortlessly available on phones.
Being a sanbox, no wonder Graphics has to suffer so your computational power is saved for the thing that matters: physics simulation. Visually not bad, but I'd say it's very simple. A dynamic shadow, specular reflection, okay ish texture. Done.
But! The detail of the vehicle themselves though is INSANE! everything from cockpit dials and levers are actually dynamic and rendered in high details.
So no surprise the game runs perfectly on my Snapdragon 870 powered device. I set it to 40fps capped to persevere battery and it does! The game barely uses any power and maintains very respectable "cold" temperature. Impressive for a physics simulation game with sanbox mechanic!
Calling it a "game" isn't easily justifiable. Because you actually can do so much more than just "gaming". You'll learn vehicle control, center of mass manipulation, some fluid dynamic physics, and... Actually make experimental planes that do fly!
With tutorial packaged very neatly, I managed to make my weird X-winged plane I call "X-lander" in just 1 hour right after tutorial ends. And it flies! Actually it flied wayy too better reaching 1200km/h And still maneuvers like fighter jets. Is this too easy? I guess...
Well that means you can experiment more and more in this game. Flying is NOT your only goal though...
What else? Well making land-based vehicle of course! Why learning rocker science if you can just build a car? Well do that because the game doesn't care if your stuff can fly or not. As far as it does it purpose.
What's the purpose? It's just sanbox right? Well yes and no. The actual part of the gameplay lies in several ways you can play with your creation. Most notorious of all is maybe Dogfight. Yeah, after your barely flying thing can fly, equip it with weapons and try to demolish other vehicles in a Dogfight. Or if you're more into air-to-ground you can always take fights to boats or land targets.
Honestly... It's not easy 😂, but honestly, doesn't matter because all failures here is funny. And you got to learn a thing or two. It's rare for games today that teaches you something meaningful.
Conclusion:
Wether you're going to be an aircraft engineer or just casually checking people's creation, buy this game! Honestly for the price it's more than worth it. And your phone will run this game nicely. There are community supports on its website so you'll not get lost.
