What's a great game with a horribly botched sequel?
2K View2024-07-10I was on the payday sub and was thinking it's crazy that payday 2 was so good and payday 3 is so bad.
Sacred III was rubbish compared to Sacred II Torchlight III was inferior to Torchlight II
Dungeon Keeper's been the most outraged serie of all times!
First chapter was a masterpiece of management games, exploring the fantasy realm, and reverting the usual plot making you play as the bad guy.
The second one was still a great game, expanding the original in every single aspect.
The third game... fell under EA control, and that's the worst thing that could ever happen: they made it a mobile pay-to-win shit, with forced shopping to made even the simpler actions.
Useless to say, it's been the gravestone for the whole franchise.

Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 are the best real time top down strategy games although some might not know about the series they butchered the third installment. Dragon Age Origins this is by far the greatest rpg game i've ever played however they also killed the franchise on the second title.

Some I could think of off the top of my head: CoD Modern Warfare 2 (2022 edition) Final Fantasy 2 (Sorry it sucked) Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 Devil May Cry 2 and then some not exact sequels, but still bad later installments in a series: Duke Nukem Forever Plants vs Zombies 3 Plants vs Zombies Battle for Neighborville Battlefield 2042 All the new Call of Duty Games past Black Ops 3 Feudalism 3 (an old flash game) Street Fighter 5 Dead space 3 Arkham Origins & Kill the Justice League Paper Mario Sticker Star Did I get them all? No but those are the ones I can remember! Have fun checking them haha
