Stardew Valley, from an urban city as an office worker, you head to Pelican Town to inherit the farm from your grandfather.
It is a simple, pixelated game which I see a familiarity to Terraria. However, in Stardew Valley, you are a farmer to your own farm! For your information, there are a total of seven types of farms that you can choose from and one of them is "perfect for a group."
You can name your character, your farm, and your pet (either can be a dog or a cat). There is also lots of customization available for your character.
As a farmer, you can till plots and grow crops to sell or use, cut down trees and grass, mine rocks and ores but you can also kill mobs in the mines. However, for every action such as tilling the soil, your character will soon be exhausted. Don't be too worried though, you can replenish your energy by consuming food, beverages and even your own crops and products.
In the mention of products, you can raise cows, goats, sheeps, pigs, chickens and rabbits in the game. You can milk cows and goats then turn them into cheese, sheeps and rabbits can be sheared for wool (by the way, rabbits are the source of rabbit foot), while the pigs dig the ground for truffle which can be turned into truffle oil. You can also sell these animals too.
My personal favorite other than having the farm of my dream... you can marry an NPC! There are six bachelors and six bachelorettes. After a process of talking to a certain NPC each day and giving two gifts every week, you can give a Bouquet from Pierre's General Store to start dating then a Mermaid's Pendant from the Old Mariner to marry them. If ever you want to break up with an NPC, you can give them a Wilted Bouquet that can be obtained by putting it into a furnace.
What about the wedding ceremony?
— "The wedding ceremony takes place in the morning, 3 days after you propose. That is, if you propose on Monday the 1st, the marriage cutscene will take place as soon as you wake up on Thursday the 4th."
Is same-sex relationships supported?
— Yes. You can get married with a bachelorette as a female farmer or a bachelor as a male farmer and adopt children.
Naturally, if you can get married in Stardew Valley, you can have children too. The requirements to have children are to be married and have upgraded the Farmhouse for the second time which adds a nursery and an extra room. "You can have only two children: one male and one female. The gender of the first child is random, and the gender of the second child is the opposite of the first child. Children never grow up past the Toddler stage (Stage 4). You will have the option to acquire a second child only after the first child has grown to the Toddler stage."
How to get the kids?
— "After you go to bed for the night, your spouse might ask (1/20 chance) if you want to have/adopt a child. You can answer "yes" or "not now." Same-gender couples will adopt children, and opposite-gender couples will have biological children."
Oh and, you can be friends with other NPCs. You can talk to them daily like the marriage candidates as well as giving them two gifts per week. There can be a specific event triggered by the amount of hearts an NPC has too. However, there is also such a thing like decay where the hearts decrease by how frequent you interact with an NPC but there are those specific amount of hearts that decay stops.
And if you're wondering about the quality of the art, the game itself is beautiful but the character illustrations are good to say the least. The audio is not loud, just right. That will be all I guess, the rest is up to you to find out.
Some information is quoted from Stardew Valley Wiki. Lastly, I advise a new player to use the Internet to guide you as I did when I was a beginner. I hope you enjoy Stardew Valley and have a good day ahead of you.
