i thought i was :P didn't realize it was just a reply to yours.
I've played it further actually, and have a revised opinion (improved) i'll make a separate review.
key points:
- as you progress you unlock multiple boss fights which allow you to grind for progression mats, and gear (including purples). The bosses drop special gear with 3 piece sets and improved stats over the regular stuff.
- once you build the synthesis lab (unlocked with power generator lvl 5), you have the ability to trade in lower rarity mechs/gear for higher (takes 4 blues with 4 stars and 4 tuning stages each to get one purple, you can upgrade all the way to artifact (red)). Not all mechs/gear are available to upgrade this way thou.
- the specilization of pilots adds a nice depth to the pilot management (among other things you can specialize them for bug killing, boss fights or pvp)
- expeditions are fun if tough, and provide symbionts which are another progression path.

dude it's still a reply to mine, post it in reviews not comment sections lol
Preface by saying i'm a big mecha fan. Grew up with the original battletech games and have played every mech game since.
This game fits the niche perfectly, lots of potential, great art and gameplay. Hopefully the developers will continue to develop it, expand it, and make it a bit more wallet friendly.
The pros: Lots of mechs each with their own unique flavor. 3 types of damage in a rock paper scissors model (this is both good and bad, see below), lots of gear, shuttles, pilots and other stuff to upgrade. AFK mining and resource extraction, diverse enemies with unique abilities, bosses and factions to grind rep with.
There is also pvp with a ladder which is a lot of fun. And through the shuttleport you can fairly often get 1 or 2 tokens for pulling a mech/gear.
game mechanics wise, the game offers auto movement for your squad which is super handy, letting you just control skill use. Although for some fights you may need to take manual control (easily done, just use the joystick, the moment you stop moving them they continue moving on their own).
In short the game offers a lot of content, especially considering it is relatively new, all in a high res visual orgasmafest.
The cons:
The gacha mechanics are a bit extreme, several different types of currencies, but the major culprit is the following:
There are dozens of mechs, each mech comes in different tiers, and within the tiers different damage types. Ergo, you can have a phoenix mk I (made up name) in any of the tiers and any of the 3 types of damage. Where it gets bad is that in order to tune it (the ascension mechanism within the game) you can only use mechs from the same tier and type. I.E.: if you had a rare phoenix mk.I, you would need to get multiple copies of the same mech in the same rarity to tune it up. You can not tune across rarities from what i can tell (i.e.: you can not somehow tune a rare phoenix up to purple so you can use it to tune your purple phoenix). The same mechanism exists for weapons and other equipment which you can level up and tune (which is everything really). All that means is you will need an insurmountable number of pulls just to tune up one mech, worse as you go up in rarity as the chances of getting multiples are slim to none.. I'm hoping that i'm missing something in this system because it doesnt make sense how hard it is.
Another thing is how hard it is to grind resources from missions, especially cash. You use cash for everything, leveling up mechs or gear, equiping weapons or gear, and a huge amount for removing weapons or gear from mechs. And missions give you a good amount for first clear but after it drops to nothing (6500 for first clear at chapter 4, 120 coins afterwards per run). This is probably my biggest issue with the game as it makes moving equipment around incredibly expensive and out of reach... a lot of the fun of mech games is fidgeting with loadouts.. here you will quickly run out of cash for doing so. furthermore the game requires you to have multiple variants of mechs in different damages (so you can use the right damage type to face the creatures you fighting in any particular mission) but again this is extremely hard to do as you cant easily move gear around.
Overall i really enjoy the game, although i wish loadouts were more easily changed, and that there was a way to promote common/rares/etc up tiers so you could have a unified pool for use in the Tuning mechanism (like in most games you have your A heroes and your S heroes, normally you can upgrade your A heroes up and use them as fodder for ascending your S heroes)
