My first impression with Kurukshetra was outstanding:
Wonderful graphics, a great atmosphere within the indian mythology, a fully voiced campaign, a slick yet intuitive interface, a generous (premium) battle-pass...
Additionally, the gameplay has been masterfully designed, at least for the most parts:
There are melee and ranged units and heroes, that gains first strike against each other, leaders have an active and a passive ability, that further evolve during the match, lots of keywords, and almost every single card has its own use.
The only aspect that disturbed me from the beginning, is the music, which is part of a video-game's soul for me:
Its intrusive in Kurukshetra, and it hurt, that i had to disable it...
The longer i played, though, the clearer it became, that the sum of all mechanics dont harmonize, and break every balance.
There is a hero, which's passive ability allows him to draw a card every time he uses a spell. Another hero can pay 2 mana to gain +1 permanent attack, and its attacks ignore all armor. Those players do literally nothing else than increase attack every single turn, kill everything you play, and heal themselves... Then theres a hero that can discard unlimited cards to gain +1 temporary mana for each, which, if you are unlucky, leads to a round 1 unit, that wins the game without any chance to prevent it. And, another hero has a weapon, that attacks all enemies at once, and a passive, that prevents him from any retaliation.
Needless to say, matches are as crazy as the card-pool the players have, and playing against a complete combo-deck is usually just unwinnable, if you are missing your own key-cards, and your opponent knows what he's doing.
And, although the game mechanics are very deep, and mistakes and optimal play can make a difference, matches are usually just decided by having the right cards at the right time, or not...
What ultimately puts the nail on the coffin for me, is the fact, that the daily login reward just applies for the first 7 days. After that, progress slows down a LOT, and without spending money, you cant realistically hope to ever have a full collection...
I had planned to keep playing until i had finished the battle-pass, but after 25 hours, i do not enjoy the experience anymore, and have no intention to continue...
