Wizard of Legend 2 Review: A Spellbinding Return to Arcane Action

Wizard of Legend 2 retains all the features that were popular in the first game and amplifies it with 3D graphics. This rogue-lite RPG was created by Dead Mage once again letting the players become powerful wizards that will have to master the elements of Arcana to battle through the randomly generated dungeons alone or with friends in co-op mode.
The first thing players will immediately pick will be the enhanced graphics to the game. The change to 3D makes the game environment even more realistic and the fight even more interesting and striking to the eye. Each and every spell, explosion and battles with the enemy are depicted in the best way possible which adds to the confusion which the Wizard of Legend series is famous for.
As for the gameplay, Wizard of Legend 2 doesn’t deviate much from the first part with the fast-paced action that focuses on spells and maneuvers. New spells increase the availability of the options for a player to create his own unique fighting style even further. No matter that you are sting your opponents and turn them into ice or that you burn them with fire, the game makes the fight as unique as possible. In turn, the system that Arcana allows for is very versatile because it combines elements of an RPG and a deck-building game which benefits from a flexible combat system that encourages players to think outside the box.
The other attractive aspect of the game is the co-op feature. The basic gameplay is the same whether in local or online mode, so when you join forces with your friends, you get the additional level of complexity, as you have to combine your forces to defeat the more powerful bosses. The cooperative dynamic is fairly equalized so there will never be a time where too many players make the game less challenging.
Of course, there are several drawbacks that some players may have, which is based on the general rogue-lite mechanics with a focus on restarting from scratch after each loss. The learning curve can be rather steep and this might be off-putting to those who are not familiar with the genre.
All in all, Wizard of Legend 2 is a great sequel which develops the previous game successfully. As an action roguelike set in a fantasy world with excellent graphics and challenging combat it is definitely a game that I would recommend to fans of the genre.
