Industrial Toys™, working on Battlefield Mobile since 2020, initially generated excitement. However, early gameplay videos revealed shortcomings in combat and vehicle mechanics, deviating from the beloved feel of earlier Battlefield games. Although this was understood to be an early playable version, anticipation waned. Over the next few years, developers made significant changes, but a global release remained elusive. These updates continued until early 2023 when EA unexpectedly canceled Battlefield Mobile and closed Industrial Toys.
This decision left Alex Seropian, the founder of Industrial Toys and a co-founder of Bungie and Wideload Games, out of a job, along with approximately 120 other employees at the LA studio. The team had been dedicated to Battlefield Mobile since its inception in early 2020.
