Simply amazing. Not perfect, but I'll explain it simply:
-Extremely addicting combat. If you're familiar with Octopath Traveler series, I could not recommend this enough if you enjoy a weakness system.
My only bother with it would be that applying status effects to enemies (a core component to stacking negative effects for brutal numbers) is that here they're not guaranteed. At that point, it's just a bonus which still feels nice but the lack of consistency hurts it a bit. The end of the game features a ton of instances where you'll just keep missing attacks on your enemies and have to continue stalling the game until your next opening.
Other than that main issue with combat, it works. The resistance system is engaging but you never really utilize it until the very end. It's to the point where I had no experience with the mechanic enough to fully get that shine. I'd suggest having an equipment system to filter for certain elements and all. That, or a general idea of where to find new element resistant equips. A silhouette list displaying the region's potential loot would do well.
And finally, I didn't see any tutorial for the secondary skills. I legit didn't use them until the second to last zone when I randomly stumbled on it. Was very heartbreaking to know I had 20+ skills to use lmao.
Still, amazing game. But we all know that, so that's my critical eye yata!
