Games worth discovering
TLDR: Do not bother with this game, and especially do not waste your hard earned money on it.
This game is a tragedy. Case studies should be written on how bad it is.
Altdeus is clearly a low budget, low effort attempt to make a premium game, that is WAY overpriced.
1st, the graphics are third rate if that. Everything about it is stiff. That includes the voice acting. The English VAs are incredibly stiff and most don't even match the characters they voice, especially the mc and Coco, 2 of the most important characters to the story. The characters barely emote or move when speaking.
2cd, don't mistake this for a mech battle game. It's not. It's a VR-based visual novel with some light decision-making mechanics thrown in to give you the illusion your choices matter. (They really don't). The battles are insultingly slow and stiff, and only require you to tap a couple of preset buttons. Honestly, it could all play out without you and be the same.
3rd, the story is not intriguing enough to trudge through its slow-paced nature and all the other faults of the game. It tries hard to be poetic, mysterious, and deep, but falls flat with bad writing and even worse VA delivery. And, as I stated, the poor graphics make it worse since it's not even fun to look at.
The only slight consolation I'l give is that the music is actually decent. But it's still not anywhere near good enough to forgive all of the shortcomings of the game. I tried to give it some time to develop but it really doesn't get better. In better hands, maybe there would have been potential here.
In conclusion. This is a low-budget waste of time and money, with nothing good enough to warrant your attention. I promise you, it's an easy skip. At this point, free to play games are so well made that it makes games like this inexcusable. Save your money.
