The attacks were a neat concept. You have to equip a weapon card, then you can equip effect cards to the weapon card.  Like if you have a magic staff, you can equip it to a slot, and it will have a base attack. So you can attack with the staff, or you can equip effect cards to it, like a lightning bolt spell that does more damage, or an attack twice card.
It comes with problems though. Similar to most games like this, you get to pick a card after a battle. But you can't play effect cards without something to equip them to. So the more cards you have, the more often you get hands that keep you from being able to do anything. Example, you draw 4 spell cards. You can't play them without having a weapon equiped. You can't discard any either. All you can do is end your turn.
The other problem is NOT taking cards. You end up cycling through most your deck because each time you play a card, you draw a new card. You can play a whole dungeon run without picking up more than 3 or 4 extra cards to add to your starter deck. Yeah, your thinking that's not much of a problem, but it makes it boring, like an auto-pay game where the auto doesn't work.
The end of run bosses are too op, and display their attack strength wrong. It'll say they're going to do "17" damage, so you add shield to block it. Then it hits and does like 30 damage. You cheese through the whole dungeon, then get to fight super dude with his minions. You also start getting a lot of "here's 4 spell cards" bs where you can't attack or even add shield.
