But, at the same time, it can be annoying to deal with when trying to navigate the sprawling and convoluted map.

If you love it, support it. I didn't like it very much cause I was expecting something that wasn't just a slightly remastered version of the original. I'll still support the dev, I still like what the original had to offer and the rest of the content that was added in is sure to appeal to the die hard fans, but this wasn't for me and I don't think it would be for most people, who want more than the free version offers.
