I’ve never played Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, but Nier: Automata just might be my favorite video game of all time. It’s got everything I want in games: awesome battles, an emotional story, and an incredibly loveable cast of characters. I’m always happy to spend more time with characters like 2B, and that’s why the upcoming Goddess of Victory: NIKKE x NieR:Automata crossover event has me curious. I don’t know exactly what the collaboration will involve, but I do know that 2B, A2, and a few other characters will be visiting NIKKE’s world. In the trailer, you can see one of my favorite Nier: Automata characters, Pascal, holding a Lunar Tear. If they were looking for a way to tug at my heartstrings, they found it.

WitchSpring R is a simple but addictive RPG that’s all about collecting items and crafting potions. It’s a remake of the first title in a popular series of mobile games, but it also has a lot in common with another game series: Atelier. I’m a huge Atelier fan, and WitchSpring R definitely captures the cozy slice-of-life qualities that makes those games great. The game revolves around Pieberry, an adorable witch who would like nothing more than to spend her days eating the best pie that the world has to offer. Unfortunately for her, WitchSpring R takes place in a world where magic users are being hunted down. This means she has to dodge attacks from enemy soldiers while she’s exploring or gathering ingredients.

SHOULD YOU PLAY LOVE AND DEEPSPACE? Play it if you like dating sims and don’t mind a little bit of combat. Love and Deepspace is a 3D sci-fi epic that mixes dating sim mechanics with real-time action-RPG battles, but based on my experiences, the game definitely emphasizes love over action. I ran into some minor issues during my playthrough, but my experience was really positive overall. The game looks fantastic and the love interests are all extremely charming. You have your standard dribbling and passing on the pitch like EA Sports FC mobile, but special players have equally special moves that just might give you the edge in the game against your opponent.

SHOULD I PLAY SWORD ART ONLINE LAST RECOLLECTION? Play it, especially if you’re a fan of the Sword Art Online anime/manga/light novel series. Sword Art Online: Last Recollection is an action RPG set during the third season of the anime. It’s a great representation of the series, but it suffers in a few ways mostly tied to its presentation: ugly visuals, poor animation, and delayed actions. I’d still recommend it to fans of the series, though, who’ll find plenty to enjoy here.

SHOULD I PLAY THE LEGEND OF NAYUTA: BOUNDLESS TRAILS? Play it if you’re a fan of Falcom games or old-school JRPGs. Tokyo Ghoul: Break the Chains presents the exact same stuff I’ve seen a million times before across the long string of samey mobile gacha games I’ve tried over the years. It doesn’t contain an original idea in its gameplay or design. This lack of originality would make for a boring game no matter what, but it’s especially disappointing given the brilliance of the anime, light novel series, and manga it’s based on.
