Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat doesn’t feel like a watered-down version of the classic Capcom franchise; it’s a solid new entry to the series. There’s tons of fan service here, but the game isn’t bogged down with lore, so if you’ve never played a Devil May Cry game before, this is a good place to start. I’m a longtime fan of the franchise, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well this title measured up to the mainline games.

SHOULD I PLAY FORT SOLIS? Fort Solis is absolutely worth playing, as long as you know the type of game you’re getting into. And that is, to be clear, a one hundred percent narrative game. Virtually all of the “gameplay” in Fort Solis is made up of walking around the titular creepy abandoned base on Mars, with a small handful of very simple puzzles and quick time events. That said, if you’re down for a creepy, suspenseful story, this one will get under your skin in all the best ways.

Towaga is an easy to understand game. However, since it is a soulslike game, you have to play each episode over and over again. Each episode has two stars. To unlock one, you have to pass a certain score. To unlock the other, you need to be damaged up to 3 times. Also unlock a costume when you complete each level with two stars. When you finally complete all of them, you unlock another costume. In the game, you try to kill the birds and monsters coming towards you. There is also a power that you can use as you wait. With this power, you freeze monsters for a short time.

SHOULD I PLAY ASTRA: KNIGHTS OF VEDA? If you’ve been searching for a dark fantasy action RPG, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on Astra: Knights of Veda. It blends vibrant, painting-like visuals with old-school beat-em-up gameplay, and that combination is fantastic. There’s also a dark story with elements of Lovecraftian horror and a gacha system. I ran into some issues during my time with the demo, but the game is really promising overall, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of it.
