Pocket Playfest: An Indie Celebration 2023 Winter Edition In a recent hands-on exclusive experience this past weekend, I had the privilege of testing a handful of titles on TapTap's experimental cloud gaming service, setting the stage for this 16-day event where indie game developers show-off their creations exclusively on the TapTap mobile platform — fully playable PC games without the need for an actual PC, Android/iOS version, or the need to download the games and install them.  Granted, you’d need to have a reliable internet service to be able to stream these games, and preferably are located in US and Canada for consistent play and latency, at least for now.

When I think of card based roguelikes, lots of games come to mind. This game adds the element of combos to the mix and has my attention more then a lot of the others. Your cards are not one and done. You add them to your combo and your attack grows each round. Can you afford the health to get a super powerful combo attack? That adds a lot more thinking and strategy then some of the other deck building games. I am watching this game for its future.

Sky Combat 2: Aerial Warfare Simulation Sky Combat 2: Air Combat PvP is a dynamic multiplayer flight simulator that immerses players in intense aerial battles. Participants who play and vote for their favorite games will be entered into a giveaway and have the chance of winning 5 grand prizes of $1000, as well as other prizes such as a Steam Deck and 3 Xbox Elite controllers. I tried this during the Pocket Playfest Winter 2023. The game looks intriguing with a story that grabs right away. Unfortunately, as with a couple other games during the playtest, I wasn't able to progress very far because of quirks with the cloud play controls. I figured out quickly that taps were mapped as left mouse clicks, but I couldn't left click on the door to progress the objective. Still, from the jump, I'm excited to see what happens next! I'll have to check this game out when it's released.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. THE STORY, GRAPHICS, MOVEMENTS EVERYTHING IS AMAZING. Love the character. really engaging. the controls gameplay mechanics are swift, buttery and enjoyable

Devil Slot Machine is an upcoming game that presents itself as a roguelike pinball tower defense game where your heart is at stake in a deadly game with demons. The unique twist involves using health as currency for upgrades, tower placement, and rerolls. A demo is currently available now on Steam, and the game is planned to release next year 2024.

I can tell this game is great, even though I'm dreadful at playing it. I'm reminded of childhood favorites Rampage and War of the Monsters — but also of the far more recent Ruckus, a delightful little kaiju brawler published to MediaMolecule's Dreams. Recommended to anyone who likes picking up entire buildings and hurling them at friends.

I may have been uncertain at the start whether or not I would enjoy Devil Slayer Raksasi, but in the end, it’s actually one of the best rogues I’ve played in a long while. While graphically, it may not shatter anyone’s expectations, and the music is generally pretty muted, it does so much more right in how it plays. Coupled with an interesting premise, mysterious robed overlords, demon hybrids, and monsters, and you end up with a really satisfying indie game. I’m definitely impressed and look forward to future projects from GlassesCatGames.
