I gave this one a quick go during the PocketPlayfest winter 2023. Great strategic gameplay with a ton of potential. This game compares favorably to Roguebook, another deck building, rogue like, auto-battler, and one of my favorites. The mechanics are interesting, but familiar and the gameplay is about what you'd expect. I'm assuming this pre-release version is missing some animations and graphical refinement. There were also some weird quirks in the text elements that could do with a grammar check, but all were minor. I'll definitely be bagging this one when it comes out!

Pocket Playfest: An Indie Celebration 2023 Winter Edition In a recent hands-on exclusive experience this past weekend, I had the privilege of testing a handful of titles on TapTap's experimental cloud gaming service, setting the stage for this 16-day event where indie game developers show-off their creations exclusively on the TapTap mobile platform — fully playable PC games without the need for an actual PC, Android/iOS version, or the need to download the games and install them.  Granted, you’d need to have a reliable internet service to be able to stream these games, and preferably are located in US and Canada for consistent play and latency, at least for now.

If players are deeply engrossed in the gaming world, especially fond of pinball, slot machines, or tower defense games, "Devil Slot Machine" will likely capture their attention. Although some do not typically delve into these genres, the unique idea of risking the soul in a gambling showdown against a demonic entity immediately caught such interest. While the game could improve gameplay and presentation, the intriguing game mechanics and nostalgic retro pixel graphics convinced them that the upcoming full-release version has significant potential. Venturing into pinball, slot machines, and tower defense, "Devil Slot Machine" provides a distinct gaming experience that may appeal to fans of these genres. Despite infrequent ventures into such gaming domains, gambling the soul against a diabolical opponent fascinated them from the outset. While the game could benefit from some fine-tuning, the attraction of its innovative game mechanics and charming retro pixel graphics suggests that the future full-release version has the potential to deliver a captivating and immersive gaming experience.

There is a lot about GigaBash that speaks to me as a lifelong kaiju fan. The visuals, the Titan designs, the pick-up-and-play ease of the controls, the level variety, the lore, it’s all top-notch and easy to gush about. If you can consistently get three other people to join you locally in the action, you’re going to get a lot out of this game. If that’s not realistic for you, know that it can still be a pretty fun time even if you’re not getting the optimal experience.

Heaven Dust 2 successfully builds upon the foundation laid by its predecessor, offering a thrilling survival horror experience reminiscent of classic Resident Evil games. The game impresses with its chibi-style graphics, engaging story, and well-optimized gameplay. The inclusion of various difficulty levels, playthrough unlocks, and exploration elements contributes to its replay value. The game doesn't overstay its welcome, and its a nice affordable game to pass the time, beatable in a single sitting.

When I first tried Pesticide Not Required, I was pleasantly surprised by its addictive gameplay and original concept. This is an exciting roguelike game combining horde survival with farming elements, and adding Bullet Hell mechanics to it. The game character, the frog, gives the game a unique flavor, and the minimum system requirements make it accessible to a wide audience. For me, another big advantage of the game was the possibility of cloud gaming. This allows you to enjoy the game even on weak computers, since all calculations take place on the server, and not on your device.

Winner of the day In a breathtaking match-up, Heaven Dust 2 emerged victorious over GigaBash, showcasing its unique charm and immersive gameplay. This win marks another milestone for Heaven Dust 2, as it continues to captivate the TapTap community with its engaging puzzles and survival challenges. Acknowledging GigaBash Though GigaBash didn't clinch the win today, it leaves a legacy of thrilling kaiju battles and memorable moments. Its larger-than-life heroes and destructible environments have made an indelible mark on our players, who have expressed their admiration and appreciation for this epic arena brawler.

SHOULD I PLAY PESTICIDE NOT REQUIRED? Absolutely yes. Pesticide Not Required has everything I could ever want in a Vampire Survivors clone: smooth bullet heaven gameplay, over-the-top power-ups, frogs, farming mechanics, and even a pet capybara to help me care for my plants. I’ve only played the demo, but I’m already head over heels in love with Pesticide Not Required. Unless you totally hate roguelites—or frogs—this is a must play.
