Pocket Playfest: An Indie Celebration 2023 Winter Edition In a recent hands-on exclusive experience this past weekend, I had the privilege of testing a handful of titles on TapTap's experimental cloud gaming service, setting the stage for this 16-day event where indie game developers show-off their creations exclusively on the TapTap mobile platform — fully playable PC games without the need for an actual PC, Android/iOS version, or the need to download the games and install them.  Granted, you’d need to have a reliable internet service to be able to stream these games, and preferably are located in US and Canada for consistent play and latency, at least for now.

One aspect that set this game apart from others through Cloud Gaming was the user interface's of shooting with a weapon. The weapons serve almost no purpose due to the requirement of aiming with one's finger until it locks onto the creature, which severely restricts movement. Following that, you must release your finger from the target after pressing the gun icon which locks it in place.

✨Overview Core Devourer is an upcoming rogue-lite survival top-down shooter of what seems like a mash up of two of the best rogue-like games in the genre: Risk of Rain 2 and Vampire Survivors. The gameplay was surprisingly fun, and can be a bit challenging. You have to carefully  place the turrets, mind your positioning and using your tools to your advantage. The pixel graphic was very nice and the music was pretty good. The presentation of the story was.. okay and the plot was kinda predictable, but it's still pretty enjoyable imho. Biggest downside was the control. It's not that bad, but it could be much better.

Cyber Manhunt plays out like the found-phone mystery genre where you have to look for something in a layout that is similar to the devices we're using just to solve the mystery at hand. The game starts off with an animated intro of sorts that really sets you in the theme. As a hacker extraordinaire, you are tasked by your employer to look into cases through unconventional and possibly unethical means.

Hands down the most F2P friendly sandbox shooter ever, I spent no money to max out heroes or to beat stacks of whales; skill is all it takes to climb the ladder. Auto fire got your back if you are also a "thumbs only" player, you get to train all you want as there is no "energy system", and no paywall unbalances the everchanging meta. A heftier playerbase is all we need to tweak matchmaking and become an E-Sport.

In the heat of the Pocket Playfest, Round 3's fiery face-off has drawn to a close. The battleground was intense, with Prime of Flames and Bright Reappear squaring off. With a dramatic twist of events, Prime of Flames (with 4410 votes) emerged as the victor, extinguishing its rival, Bright Reappear (with 2961 votes). if you are looking for a calming game to play at night, in stressful moments, or while just relaxing with your family I recommend “Wordscapes.” On top of this it also activated your brain rather than weakening it. This means it could make your mind healthier while you have fun. I have been playing this game over the past few months and have truly enjoyed. It’s a nice refreshing game compared to fast paced gameplay of FPS’s. Hope you have fun 🤩

Refactor is a pretty great tower defense and totally worth playing, but I still had a few complaints. First, the tutorial. It's a lot. I was bored out of my mind by that much reading. The game doesn't allow you to simply play and have fun. It makes you read all the tutorial text, even then some of the stuff the character is explaining is pretty obvious, or that you could easily learn by yourself. The build button has no comeback option, so I can't cancel it after touching it. Sometimes I didn't find good builds to build in that round, but I was forced for the game lack of a cancel button in this option.

Bright Reappear is a Match-3/RPG with a mechanic where you could choose to select more than one item to move on the puzzle grid. Aside from that, it plays practically like any Match-3/RPG that I could think of. The characters and game design look alright. It's as you'd expect from fantasy pixel art. The text though... I feel like there's still a lot of room for improvement especially with the translations so that the sentences feel a bit more dynamic and less forced.

Alright, so, basically dwerve is a game that was released a yer ago for pc, but now they are developing the mobile version, i think its a really good idea to simplificate the game for mobile gamers, knowing that the mobile game indistry generates more benefits than the pc games, so, i need to say that i never played the pc version, but i informed myself after playing this beta, dwerve is a very original rpg tower defensa game, that mixes zelda 8 bit artwork style and mystcal history, with a very good live combat with the enemies, once you progress the history you unlock new weapons, upgrades like some other rpg games, but with the diference of the runes, item that you colect trough the story and defines the capacity of your weapons, a very good idea, and very well adaptad to mobile controls.
