Pocket Playfest: An Indie Celebration 2023 Winter Edition In a recent hands-on exclusive experience this past weekend, I had the privilege of testing a handful of titles on TapTap's experimental cloud gaming service, setting the stage for this 16-day event where indie game developers show-off their creations exclusively on the TapTap mobile platform — fully playable PC games without the need for an actual PC, Android/iOS version, or the need to download the games and install them.  Granted, you’d need to have a reliable internet service to be able to stream these games, and preferably are located in US and Canada for consistent play and latency, at least for now.

As we inch closer to the grand finale of the Pocket Playfest, the suspense is at its peak. The fourth round saw a compelling match between Heaven Dust and I See You, both games pushing the boundaries with their remarkable attributes. Heaven Dust, however, rose above the competition, securing the most votes and the victory. Let's be honest. I love RPG but... If you compare this game with any other turn based game, you can't find any positive difference. No innovation. The story is extremely simple. Characters are well-drawn, but become bland during battle. The game looks like it has no life, because the scenario itself demonstrates this, the characters' attacks could have a greater effect.... The enemies are also well designed, but it is very disappointing to see an enemy with a dark appearance and a emotionless attack.

Bright Reappear is a Match-3/RPG with a mechanic where you could choose to select more than one item to move on the puzzle grid. Aside from that, it plays practically like any Match-3/RPG that I could think of. The characters and game design look alright. It's as you'd expect from fantasy pixel art. The text though... I feel like there's still a lot of room for improvement especially with the translations so that the sentences feel a bit more dynamic and less forced.

The overall content of the game is great, I know that the devs are fans of RE franchise based on their previous post but there's just too much similarities of the games that it feels like another clone. No hate to the devs though, they did a great job at making puzzles, making the map feel big and setting the atmosphere but playing the game in vertical is a big turn off for me (idk if there's a function for it to be landscape), I don't like playing games in vertical as it make the game feel cramped. Things I also noticed are the buttons, the game tutorial says press x but there's no button for it and the way to do it is either hold the object or tap it, and the virtual joystick, it always moves which is irritating.

It's still on demo so there isn't that much to play. Basically, the whole game is just an incomplete tutorial. I say incomplete because clearly, there are more gameplay mechanics they haven't taught me yet. Despite having very little to offer, this game does a great job on providing me with the unique experience of being a hacker doing detective works. And story is not bad at all. The graphics is very beautiful, it has that mesmerizing retro vibes. Imho, the art is best part of the game.

Well, let's start with the fact that this game is similar to TABS (totally accurate battle simulator) but with slight differences in the game mechanics. When you first enter the game (in fact, at all entrances) it takes a long time to enter, you literally have to wait 2-3 minutes.  It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just like you want to click on the game icon and start playing after 30 seconds, but you have to wait until the loading bar is at 90℅ for a while😴.
