Pocket Playfest: An Indie Celebration 2023 Winter Edition In a recent hands-on exclusive experience this past weekend, I had the privilege of testing a handful of titles on TapTap's experimental cloud gaming service, setting the stage for this 16-day event where indie game developers show-off their creations exclusively on the TapTap mobile platform — fully playable PC games without the need for an actual PC, Android/iOS version, or the need to download the games and install them.  Granted, you’d need to have a reliable internet service to be able to stream these games, and preferably are located in US and Canada for consistent play and latency, at least for now.

Refactor is a pretty great tower defense and totally worth playing, but I still had a few complaints. First, the tutorial. It's a lot. I was bored out of my mind by that much reading. The game doesn't allow you to simply play and have fun. It makes you read all the tutorial text, even then some of the stuff the character is explaining is pretty obvious, or that you could easily learn by yourself. The build button has no comeback option, so I can't cancel it after touching it. Sometimes I didn't find good builds to build in that round, but I was forced for the game lack of a cancel button in this option.

Redeem code: m98gP5Ad   This is from my 30min experience, so far the game is interesting, the puzzles aren't complex, deducing clues from notes are fun and aren't hard nor easy, it's good for casual players (like me who aren't into horror games). I like the tiny detail that whenever you die, your corpse becomes infected. The ambient sounds really sets the mood.     On the other hand, so far (30min in) the story is good but I don't find it interesting, some parts of the game don't make sense(?). Personally, I'm not a fan of portrait mode although others like it. Overall I'd give it an 8/10.

Demo kinda funky thus can't say for sure but the gameplay is good enough, only problem is the repeating cycle of play - lose - repeat, which made me lose my interest too soon. Also not enough tutorial and too much text at once. Still, it has potential to be a good game.

The gameplay was surprisingly fun, and can be a bit challenging. You have to carefully  place the turrets, mind your positioning and using your tools to your advantage. The pixel graphic was very nice and the music was pretty good. The presentation of the story was.. okay and the plot was kinda predictable, but it's still pretty enjoyable imho. Biggest downside was the control. It's not that bad, but it could be much better.

Give me another Tither family murder mystery—I’m on fire!  🔥

Bright Reappear is a Match-3/RPG with a mechanic where you could choose to select more than one item to move on the puzzle grid. Aside from that, it plays practically like any Match-3/RPG that I could think of. The characters and game design look alright. It's as you'd expect from fantasy pixel art. The text though... The demo turned out to be a bit small😅 We are simply thrown into the game and fight, die, repeat. To be honest, without character upgrades, it’s not very interesting, although I would have played longer if there were at least a little more mechanics and interactions. A fast-paced bullet hell game. Gotta be honest, this genre barely does it for me since I'm more of a strategy game fan. Still, this game is great in what it does. The graphics are vibrant and it can get kinda hectic when there's a boss battle. I'm sure bullet hell fans can find this title enjoyable when it releases in full.
