I’m a solo dev working on a small cat lane strategy game called Claws of Power. You spend dried fish to summon different cats, line them up, and try to break the enemy base. These gifs are from a later vampire boss fight. The boss appears out of a swarm of bats, then walks forward with the wave, throwing out black energy orbs and lightning that can pretty much erase your frontline if your timing is bad. On my side it’s mainly the Gatling muscle cat plus Nuba (the blue tiger cat) trying to clean up the lane and slowly push toward him. The other gif is just a little interaction I really like: a tiny knight cat jumps onto a big tank cat and rides along, stabbing away while the big one eats all the damage in front. It’s a card-based real-time lane strategy game about cats: you spend dried fish to summon different cats, build your lineup, and try to push down the enemy base. At first glance it looks very simple, but with cat skills, timing and equipment builds, there’s actually quite a bit to play around with. I’ve been testing a new unit in Claws of Power called Aosha. He’s basically an assassin cat: blue scarf, dual blades, always moving like he’s about to cause trouble. The idea for him actually came from a player, so this one is kind of a custom character brought into the game. One balance problem in earlier versions was that ranged units were getting a bit too comfortable, so I wanted something that could punish them directly instead of just trying to out-stat them. Aosha’s normal attacks have a chance to trigger a quick extra combo. But the more important part is his special trait: if he gets hit by a ranged projectile, he instantly blinks behind that ranged unit, does a guaranteed combo, and then teleports back to where he was before. So against archers and gunners he’s… not very polite. The GIFs I’m posting are from my latest test build. I’m still tuning him, but he’s already one of those units that feels very satisfying when the matchup is right. The graphics are commendable, considering how close and detailed the information is presented visually. There are various conditions on the off-road terrain, and players must adjust to each.
