I’m making a small indie game called Claws of Power. A big part of the starting point for this game was those old lane-push browser games, especially Age of War. I always thought that kind of gameplay was weirdly addictive, and also had more room to be explored than most games ever did with it. So I ended up making my own version of that feeling — but with cats. At the core, it’s still a single-lane push game: you spend dried fish to summon units, they walk forward automatically, fight on the lane, and whoever destroys the enemy base first wins. But I’ve been trying to build more around that loop: different cat skills, items, equipment, timing, positioning, and more ways to actually make decisions instead of just spamming units. I still don’t know the perfect genre name for this kind of game. It’s a bit lane strategy, a bit tower defense, a bit RTS, and a bit chaotic auto-battle nonsense. Whatever the label is, this is basically my attempt to take that old Age of War style and push it in my own direction. A popular Fortnite leaker has stated that a new "enhanced resurrection" method could be coming to the island, which would allow gamers to reboot with a stronger weapon, shields, and ammo. Reboot vans have become a staple of the Fortnite experience, giving players the opportunity to bring back eliminated teammates as long as they possess the person's reboot card. Another Fortnite leak claimed reboot vans may soon give players the option to purchase the reboot cards of fallen teammates with gold. The leaker didn't state how much the feature might cost or how often it could be used, but the change would likely alter the flow of matches significantly. Some fans pointed out that the current method of collecting an ally's reboot card can force players into confrontation with one another. It could also spur someone to travel into the storm when they might otherwise flee. Failure to acquire a card means the person will sit out for the rest of the match. Being able to purchase them with gold means there's always a chance a teammate could come back, even very late in the match.

I’m a solo dev working on a small cat lane strategy game called Claws of Power. You spend dried fish to summon different cats, line them up, and try to break the enemy base. These gifs are from a later vampire boss fight. The boss appears out of a swarm of bats, then walks forward with the wave, throwing out black energy orbs and lightning that can pretty much erase your frontline if your timing is bad. On my side it’s mainly the Gatling muscle cat plus Nuba (the blue tiger cat) trying to clean up the lane and slowly push toward him. The other gif is just a little interaction I really like: a tiny knight cat jumps onto a big tank cat and rides along, stabbing away while the big one eats all the damage in front. I’ve been testing a new unit in Claws of Power called Aosha. He’s basically an assassin cat: blue scarf, dual blades, always moving like he’s about to cause trouble. The idea for him actually came from a player, so this one is kind of a custom character brought into the game. One balance problem in earlier versions was that ranged units were getting a bit too comfortable, so I wanted something that could punish them directly instead of just trying to out-stat them. Aosha’s normal attacks have a chance to trigger a quick extra combo. But the more important part is his special trait: if he gets hit by a ranged projectile, he instantly blinks behind that ranged unit, does a guaranteed combo, and then teleports back to where he was before. So against archers and gunners he’s… not very polite. The GIFs I’m posting are from my latest test build. I’m still tuning him, but he’s already one of those units that feels very satisfying when the matchup is right.
